Yeah the girl is called Yuri (Yurippe :D). She's the leader of the SSS a group of freedom fighters battling against God. Her profile on the official site states she's very determined with an outgoing personality. She looks so similar to Haruhi, only difference is her hair color & that she has only one bow instead of two. The story goes in a world after death a group known as SSS are fighting God for his/it's injustice. The girl with the long blue hair is a servant of god disguising as the school's student council president. There are over 18 characters in the anime so expect a few 'heartbreaking' moments....typical from something from Jun Maeda. This is Key's 2nd "non-realistic" project, the other being Planetarian....however as an anime yeah you can say that. Though most of the projects of Key are un-realistic, dealing mostly with supernatural content. Btw KyoAni has nothing to do with this series, the Cannan/True Tears reference is the animation company handling this worked on those titles. That being PA works, & judging by that last shot with the band (Girls Dead Monster) it looks mighty impressive.  |

Sorry i've been away for the last oh....almost a MONTH!!!! Damn..... First there were the Winter Olympics that went on last month & the fact i work in the hospitality business you can say my schedule was stacked. Anyways it is nice to return to familiar territory & post new info on some cool stuff coming. Angel Beats is no exception!!! First off let me welcome the new members Lucky-san & Shin-san. Thanks for being apart of this thread. We are all looking forward to this series & i hope we can discuss about it when it airs. The release date for the 1st episode has been posted, starting April 2nd, 2010 on a couple japanese stations CBC & TBS to be exact. The official website has posted another promo vid this time more of a dev diary that has snippets of Lia-san possibly singing the opening theme song though the volume naturally is not heard. Jun Maeda-san also talks about the project & in a brief flash you can see (albiet blurred) lyrics for the song. The last part is a sample on how that spectacular shot of the girls of "Girls Dead Monster" rock band was made....pretty neat stuff. Here is that promo vid from youtube if anyone missed it. Also some fan musician has created a remix of that awesome BGM heard in the last promo vid. The music is called "Angel Break Beats" & is available to download at their site : http://studio-misty.com/music.php#. The song is really really good...infectious to say the least. Here is what it sounds like: Finally some mad skills from another musician who did a great job on playing the song on a piano which sounds great. ***EDIT**** New promo video is out showing more of the series. A taste of the voice acting & a sneak preview of Lia's opening song for the anime "My Soul, Your Beats!". |

Hello Izumo-san (^^)ノシ I'm a huge fan of key and I played almost all of their game releases. (Except Planetarian) As for the anime, I was able to watch AIR (after completing the game) and Clannad. Maybe I'll try to watch Kanon someday. I've read in 2Channel's blog about Kyo-ani that there might be a possibility of "Little Busters!" turning into anime somewhere around October this year. I'm still waiting for an official announcement. Hope they won't change the cast of seiyu's if it going to be animated. (^^) "Kud-Wafter" is also going to be released this month, and "Rewrite" is also coming within this year. There are so much great things to expect. Oh, I want to join the club, btw. So yeah, episode 1... definitely has a lot of potential to be great. I was rather impressed with how they pulled everything together (the concert bit didn't seem extemporaneous, and it actually fit with what was going on). Definitely going on my "watch" list for this season.

Welcome Ken-san to the thread! Yeah i'm eagerly awaiting Kud-wafter & rewrite. The opening single for Kud-wafter will be released in a few months. As for the rumor of LB being animated. It's only a matter of time before it will happen. However i believe it will be at least a few years before that will happen, mainly cause Angel Beats has just released & it was only a year since the end of CLANNAD. It will happen eventually though. *Same post in another post* I've seen the RAW version cause the sub i downloaded was lacking in quality. Anyways the animation quality is top notch so kudos to PA works for the excellent work. That scene with Girl Dead Monster/GirlDeMo :D!! doing their thing (Crow Song is quite cool btw) was really well done in terms of quality. Tenshi for a little gal is pretty formidable, she's almost invincible. Can't wait to see how the series will turn out in telling the stories of these interesting characters. Yeah for a pilot episode the characters are all interesting off the bat, there are not many series out there that can do that. Of course this is Jun Maeda-san we are talking about & everything he touches turns to gold. Anyways it's been a few years since this series was first announced & so far after one episode it is living up to expectations!!!! *note* I posted this in the "buy thread" about CD release dates so i might as well add it here for anyone interested in getting these. In the process of watching the second episode & the first thing you will notice is the ABSOLUTELY AWESOME opening theme by Lia-san!! That piano solo at the beginning is unbelievable, than it introduces the huge cast of the series before doing some quick time flashes of scenes from the series. Extreme care & dedication has been put into this series and this opening sequence is no exception. The quality & animation is top notch. This series will be EPIC & the opening sequence nails it! This is the BEST series to watch this season bar none! If you wanna be engrossed by a series go no further than ANGEL BEATS! Jun Maeda-san & his team has pulled it off again....he IS the MAN! Heck a series about a freedom group who can't decide on a name for itself battling against God & his/her moe super soldier...whats not to like! PERHAPS THE GREATEST OPENING SEQUENCE EVER!!! |

Everytime Lia-san & Jun Maeda-san hook up to do a project together you can almost guarantee that it will be magical. You know what i can't think of anything that they did together that wasn't good or great for that matter! Check their collab list! All the songs are GOLD! Anyways the 2nd episode was soooo gooood!!!! Still the storyline is abit of a mystery which is Jun Maeda-san's specialty. To keep the watcher guessing. There is no loss of quality in any of the scenes so far that i've seen. Which goes back to what i said about the series...alot of care & dedication was put into this! Back to the episode...all the SSS members seemingly 'die' off one by one or quoting Yuri...'willingly sacrificing their lives'. The best has to be the Resident Evil first film with the laser room! Also Shiina's 'death' was so good too! Oh by the way Shiina is AWESOME!!! The battle with Tenshi was short but well done & the ending scene where all the SSS members miraculously come back to life....classic! The end animation is nice & calm like the song played during it. It is scheduled for a 13 episode season (with a probable 2nd season based on the sheer size of the cast) but i can see every single one of them have some development cause i trust Jun Maeda-san's storytelling. He hasn't failed me once so far..... |

Just saw the first two episodes, they were very good, had me at the edge of my seat and reaally want to watch it to the end!!(^-^)

lol, Angel's like a Terminator from Skynet. XD The ending animation where Angel was falling into the destruction was very appealing to the eye. Where they first saw Guild, I was like "STEAMBOY!?!??!" (that movie was epic). Yuri has traits of Haruhi. 25 points. The comedy is also very fluent and smoothly done. 15 points!~

The 3rd episode was one of the most beautiful, touching & heartfelt episodes i've seen in such a long time. Iwasawa is such a great character even though so little was shown of her. However even during the timeframe of this episode we were shown everything that needed to be known about her. So far from what i can tell everyone in the series has had difficult memories or life when they were alive. They all endured some sort of hardship which is why they are going against 'God', to protest these hardships. Anyways back to Iwasawa the songs she sings are AWESOME! From Alchemy, to the acoustic version of My Song...especially My Song. Marina does an incredible job in belting out the lyrics for the song. It definitely moved me....T___T. I sure hope the ending isn't what i think happened...i hope Iwasawa will still be around. Other hilites of the episode was the conversation (one sided) with Yui...the GirlDeMo groupie. That was funny! Also Takeyama & his 'call me Christ'! Finally a revelation about Tenshi that the gang was not aware of....more intrigue! Not sure if you guys picked it out but there were sure alot of shameless product placement from Key! Again production levels of Angel Beats! is great as always. Also if you notice that during each opening sequence during the quick time flashes...they show what will be happening during the episode. So every episode's opening will be different. Episode : 10/10!!! *side note* If any of you guys understand japanese for the most part you can visit 'onsen.ag' to listen to various radio shows from anime series including Angel Beats!. Other series include Fate, ToHeart, Koihime Musou, & others. *other news* A trailer for Key's next game 'Kud-wafter' has been released featuring the opening song 'Ones Future'. Those who purchase the game will also be entitled to a demo of the other game Key is working on 'Re-Write'. Anyways here is the cute trailer. |

This 4th episode is the funniest so far. Visual arts staff have done a good job putting Yui in place of Iwasawa. Her vocals are not bad and she's a nice addition to AB's comedy factor. Yui reminds me of Kani somehow. (・A・) I'm sure some people remembered Little Busters after watching this episode.(^^)And, Yuri's evil laugh was exactly how Saya laughed when she was self-destructing!Σ(∵) Other than that, the angel girl was really cute in her manager outfit, and her lackey naoi made me wonder if it was a parody for naoe. Or, maybe it's just me. The climax part of the episode betrayed what I've thought was gonna happen...in a good way. I'm further expecting good laugh from Yui's slapstick comedy. (^_^)b |
