Some updates on some Typemoon stuff that i've read about. Some good some not so much. First the bad news. It looks like Fate/Extra will be delayed so the release date in Japan had to be pushed back. From what i heard & read it seems like Nasu-san wasn't content with how the story was being handled. It is only a rumor but i now hear that the entire script is being reworked by Nasu-san himself. Maybe this isn't such a bad thing afterall but still a delay is a delay. Some good news. I figured some of you guys/gals have already downloaded or obtained the OST for the F/SN movie that was released i believe last month. There are some rearranged tracks that were heard in the original OST as well as some new tracks from F/SN anime composer Kenji Kawaii-san. Highly recommended for any Typemoon fan out there to add to his/her collection. Still no word on a DVD/Bl-ray release but i read that there are still showings at select theatres around japan. It looks more & more likely a late summer or early fall release. I think it will be around the same time that the Kara DVDs were released. It also appears that Nasu-san is writing another light novel entitled 'Decoration Disorder Disconnection' or 'DDD' for short. This time the illustrations are being handled by Hirokazu Koyama-san who did the artwork for 'Mahotsukai no Yoru'. So far 2 volumes have been released with 2 more planned. |

@Izumo: The first two novels of DDD have been out for some time now, and the first one "Junk the Eater" has even been translated. In fact, here's the PDF of it: JtheE As for the UBW soundtrack... it's... ok. I just didn't find myself getting really excited when I was listening through it though.

@ h4xOr-san yeah after i did more research i realized that DDD was indeed out for awhile. thanks for clearing it up. As for the UBW ost, most of the music is already in previous ost just rearranged or remastered but i still thought the tracks were good. Of course 'Emiya' in any form is always cool to listen to. EDIT!!!! The news is finally here!!! The UBW film finally gets a release date!! According to the official website & various online stores the date is September 30th, 2010!!! It will be available in 3 formats: Regular (DVD), Regular (Blu-R), Limited (Blu-R). The CDjapan extra item seems to be one of the Himuro no Tenchi Fate school comics though i'm unsure if that is really the case. I'll dive into the special items more later. |

I hope that time will become short, is one of the films I've been waiting this year and it would be nice to see it either in Dvd or blu-ray quality, besides I need to be in contact with more Typemoon stuff, I hope to be watching Kara no Kyoukai soon... ![]() |

hmmmm.... normally I'm a sucker for the two words "Limited Edition", and needless to say the UBW Bluray would normally be tempting for me anyways, But considering I will DEFINITELY be getting Mahoyo on the same day and how expensive it by itself is.... hopefully I'll be able to afford them both come then.

@JC: The anime is a good example of tons of ambition but a shoestring budget. Personally I saw it waaaay back in 2004 - before I knew of the VN, but I have to say, although it was far from great in any sense, it was still...interesting. The VN is the best medium of them all, but the manga is incredibly epic and not far behind. Be forewarned though, the VN was made back in 2000, so it's graphics and such will be quite dated. The art style seems kinda unique and cool despite that however, and the story is so well written that...well...it has a huge following for a reason. Plus if I heard a person complaining about graphics in a VN I'd tell them they're in the wrong genre of game. @DA: Tsukihime is getting a game remake. There's never been any mention of an anime remake.

I don't know why all the negativity for the Tsukihime anime series. I thought it was really good for what it was intended to do. Fit alot of information that was from the original VN into a short 12/13 episode anime series. Don't get me wrong the VN is of course superior in every way but wasn't it cool to see what i was reading or looking (still pics) portrayed in anime form? It gave for me personally a better appreciation for what Nasu-san & Takeuchi-san was trying to show in the VN. Heck seeing Arucreid in all her glory in the anime series was well worth the time alone. Like alot of anime series that has a manga counterpart, reading the manga is an extension of overall story. For the full experience that wasn't included in the VN & anime reading the manga will give the person a better understanding as well. I enjoyed Tsukihime's VN, Anime & continue to enjoy the manga as well whenever i get the chance. By themselves they are equally good, together though there is little out there that can match the epicness of this series. |

Type Lunatics like me hate the Tsukihime anime because of how it totally destroyed Shiki's character and removed 90% of his badass crowning moments of awesome. Nrvnqsr Chaos was defeated in about 30 seconds without doing squat, compared to Shiki originally defeating 50+ beasts in a long fight ending with fighting him in super mode, and Roa was almost as ripped-off. Basically it abridged and cut off too much, and what it did have (such as showing Akiha's vermillion hair kicking in for a short moment) never really amounted to much. Just a bunch of references without actually filling out. That said, the show itself isn't really all that bad, it's just it has a LOT of wasted potential.

@ h4xOr-san I feel like we might be engaged in a healthy hearty friendly disagreement here which i kinda lacking in the forums lately :) I understand where you are going with the reason on why some may dislike the anime series but i believe that is where you guys are missing the point of the anime. Those looking for 'action' or showing the 'badass' moments should stick with the other mediums of the series rather than the anime. This is just my opinion but to me the anime was created to show the relationship between Shiki & Aruceid primarily & how Shiki coped with his new found powers. For a 12 episode anime series i believe it did pretty good in portraying the characters in particular Aruceid since she is argubably the most popular character in the series. She stole the anime series with her charm & you have to admit that ending was pretty emotional. Yes i know that the anime omitted ALOT of content present in the VN but like i said before it did a good job on what it intended, to widen the audience to the mainstream to those who didn't know about the VN since it was for 'adults' only. Many 'outside' fans came to realize how great the Tsukihime series was thanks to their experience with the anime series, wanting to know more about it eventually coming to know about the VN as well as the subsequent manga that was released at around the same time as the anime series. Hardcore fans may dislike the anime for the lack of content but you can't deny that it did have an impact on the success of the overall series. Without the release of the anime series you probably wouldn't see this series outside of Japan. |

@izumo: I was mainly trying to explain why some people dislike (including myself, albeit for slightly modified reasons than I gave) it, not whether or not it was entirely logical :D For example, I know it's a shallow thing to do but I have a huge tendency to give new series a "tilt" grade based upon character designs. If I hate a series character designs absolutely horribly, even if the story is good I find it difficult to like (see: Bokurano), the reverse is....only partially true in very specific cases however. Point is, it doesn't make sense, but personal preferences generally don't. In the case of the Tsukihime anime, the total nerfing of Nero and making him look like a pansy really bugged me personally, especially since it pretty much destroyed the sense of "scale" between each of the character's abilities. Now, personally I think anime is probably the best medium for action sequences, or at the very least it's far more suited to action than manga and VNs since it's in motion. As a result, it was a huge let down to not see anything close to what most of us had expected (even in the anime, before their final fight they hype him up to be incredibly strong to the point of being a threat to the strongest person on earth, Arcueid). There were two other things that bugged me that separately may have been more tolerable but together only rub salt in each others wounds. The first is the overuse of long dramatic pauses, even when it doesn't make sense. I blame these primarily on the J.C.Staff of the time's lack of a budget, so I can't really fault it for that too much. The second is the show's tendency to randomly toss in all sorts of deep details but never connect any dots. For example, Akiha drinking Hisui's blood is never delved into, why her hair randomly turned red in the moon, and many other small things. Ultimately the series comes across as a result as if it were intended for people who had already played the game and understood these random back-stories, however if that were the case why would they nerf the fights? Now, AFTER ALL OF THIS HAVING BEEN SAID (lol), I personally don't think the Tsukihime anime is in any way bad, or unenjoyable by itself. It does a lot of things right, and some of the anime unique parts such as the theme park were quite enjoyable. The main thing people take issue with is like I said in my previous post, regardless of how decent it is, it's a very far cry from the amazing tale of the original. Also I'm a Dark side of the moon routes fan, so take that as you will, lol.

@ h4xOr-san Had to do some maintenance with the home PC so was unable to respond to you so sorry if it came across as completely ignoring your points. Again i understand where you (as well as other fellow fans of the series) are coming from. I have no qualms about why some of you dislike some aspects of the series. However i think it is important to note that when a series based on an original material is planned it is highly likely that the original creator is apart of that planning. Maybe this vision of the anime was based on influences from Nasu-san & how he wanted the anime series to be like. That may not be the case but i'm always under the assumption that the original creator are usually 'hands on' in the process. Like i said the main focus of the anime series was how Shiki came to understand his powers & his relationship with the 'women' around him in particular Arcuied. Yes it may have been planned that the creators of the anime believe that fans that have already played the VN will understand or 'dig' their fave characters in motion....and for non-fans (casuals) to be intrigued by all the questions that are in the anime that can be answered if they try the VN. For me i'm part of the 'dig' group cause it was cool to see how these characters are. If the VN was actually voiced than i would have a better understanding of the characters behaviour, but since it wasn't i really didn't really see what Arcruied was about or like. Descriptions of her were nice and all but they only do so much....even if Nasu-san was a genius. Shiki may be a badass now in the manga & other incarnations of him but he wasn't like that since the beginning. He's no robot so it was interesting to see how much he has grown & the anime series did a good job on that in my opinion. Anyways i know we have our differences in opionions on what the anime series was intended to do or not do & of course everyone has different ways on how they watch an animes series. For me i'm more OPEN about any anime series cause i believe we are fortunate to even have them in the first place so i appreciate anime for that no matter how good or lousy they may be. I don't know about you or what other Typemoon fans feel about it but i always feel privledged to be a fan of the series cause it is so deep. There are many ways you can look at Tsukihime (& other Nasu-san works) that any way can be correct or wrong at the same time. There are still so many questions about the series & even if the manga do a great job on it....we all would like to know what is in store for the future of the series. Right? At least the Tsukihime VN remake or remastered version is a start..... **************************************** Okay enough of that...how many of you guys have visited the Mahoyo official website. I swear that music that is played on the site is absolutely beautiful. It feels so calm & relaxing, if the rest of the OST is like this i can listen to it forever. Can't wait to see the first trailer for this VN...it is kinda neat that Supercell will be involved. I'm not a big fan of the group though are aware of them but this VN may change all that. Still only the 3 characters are profiled so far....though more will be revealed in due time. Something tells me that Sizuki Soujyuro is someone Aoko falls for but i have a bad feeling things won't work out T__T for either of them. September can't come soon enough....pre-ordered my copy already....have you guys? If not YOU SHOULD! ************************************ What else....Fate/Xtra was released a few days ago. Unfortunately since my budget is really thin the game will have to wait. Hopefully someone will pick it up for a western release though it is unlikely. Well Capcom did pick up Fate Unlimited Works so anything is possible. If you notice in the trailer that is on the official site there is a brief scene where there is someone who looks like Aoko in the scene. Well only the back of her but there is a resemblance. I failed to pick up the game but i did manage to get the theme song by Ali Project. Not bad at all....though it is kinda 'trippy' if you know what i mean. The B-side song although not sure if it is in the game i like more since it has this mysterious sound to it. ********************************** I'll leave some links for those wanting to visit the offical websites of Mahoyo & Fate/Extra Mahoyo Official Site : http://www.typemoon.com/products/mahoyo/index.html Fate/Extra Official Site: http://fate-extra.jp/index.html |
