Yup! The club includes all things final fantasy related things... Including the spin offs @ Johnthan Wow! I read the whole thing and I think I'd rather if he'd died because it makes much more sense I mean a floating garden, moombas and time travel all very stupid... However when I think about it I get sad over what would have happened to Rinoa and the others they would have probably been torchered and killed or who knows maybe they escaped? :/ Let's shine a light on another one!!! final fantasy 9? comments and reactions? Oh and ratings out of 10? |

@Watashi - That's exactly why the theory could never really be accepted as canon. I highly doubt that Square (even back then in the Square Soft days) would have a Final Fantasy game, or any of their games for that matter, end in such a way. Spoony says it best as to why it wouldn't really happen: "But look at the story you’re telling if the “Squall’s Dead†theory is true: Squall attempts to assassinate the Sorceress, fails, gets impaled, dies, and…then what? He’s dead. The dream is ultimately meaningless. Nothing really happens in it that impacts the “real†world. Maybe Squall gets some internal closure, but so what? The Sorceress wins, rules the world, has her would-be assassins summarily executed, and evil triumphs. Hardly a fulfilling close to the story, wouldn’t you say? Not much of a story; a bunch of untrained, untalented ****ant mercenaries attack the most powerful, evil sorceress in history and get completely annihilated. Huh. Okay, I’ll admit that does sound more likely." Despite that, I thought it was a really fun read and an interesting take on the games events. Can't really comment or anything on 9 myself, since again, I have not played it. I find it difficult to get past the choice in art style. My friend enjoys it though, although I don't know what he would give it out of a 10. Probably an 8, judging by the things he has said. All I know about 9 is from the Dissidia series. Zidane kind of irritates me, since he almost always seems overly optimistic/idealistic. Kuja just appears to be the joke of the franchise, since every other villain in Dissidia (especially Kefka) makes fun of him and manipulates him for laughs while their all off doing more important evil things. Speaking of Kefka, I never noticed how creepy his voice seems to me until Dissidia 012. Me and my friend noticed during one of his first speaking scenes in that game that he sounds like a psychotic Welkin Gunther. Dave Wittenberg voices both characters, so it makes sense, but every time I heard him I couldn't help but be creeped out. Don't know why I never noticed it in the first Dissidia. Maybe because Kefka didn't speak quite as much. |

I think that square just did a load of random things and didn't realize what they were doing. There's still one bit that doesn't make sense to me... When he supposedly dies he dreams about Laguna again? Why? Pretty odd? Anyway I know it's only a theory but it was good to read... But whenever I see that thing at the end with Squall with no face I get completely freaked out!! |

@Watashi - Yeah, there are some holes in it that I don't think they have an explanation for. That Squall picture is incredibly creepy. I have a difficult time forgetting about it, but apparently (they didn't mention it in that theory site) that the picture is a result of a printing error or something with the disc. The copy I used to have had that image in it, but I have seen screenshots on the internet of what the picture is supposed to look like. I actually think that the image that resulted from the error is a lot more effective and cool looking than the regular picture of Squall that was intended to display. |

It still gives me the creeps especially when you complete the game for the first time at night :/ in a dark room on your own at the age of 15 :/ What I don't like is the cheesy retarded acts of Selphie and the others during the credits they're celebrating doing something that apparently never happened and if Edea was never a threat why is Garden floating? And Seifer are you not dead yet? Should I post that picture of Squall up for ff8's Image On the intro we have ... Muhahaha! |

@Watashi - Don't be that evil. lol Yeah, I didn't really understand that either. Seifer becomes evil for entirely unexplained (or poorly excused) reasons, and then he's suddenly alive at the end of the game, totally carefree and happy? Well, I guess we should try and keep this thread rolling. Can anyone name their favorite characters in the Final Fantasy series? These are some of mine. Tifa (FFVII) Vincent (FFVII) Auron (FFX) Kefka (FFVI, but specifically his appearance in the Dissidia series) Cloud (FFVII. Not the AC version of Cloud though) |

Seifer was under Ultimecia's control or he just wanted to achieve his "Romantic." dream of becoming a Sorceress Knight. I thought after all the crap he did during the game he would've been put in prison. What kind of government lets someone like that roam free and with a happy smile on his face at that. Here are my favorite Final Fantasy Characters. Cloud - FFVII Cid - FFVII Zack Fair - FFVII Red XIII - FFVII Irvine - FFVIII Zidane - FFIX Freya - IX Yuna - FFX Auron - FFX Balthier - FFXII Fran - FFXII Basch - FFXII Gabranth - FFXII Lightning - FFXIII Fang - FFXIII Cid Raines - FFXIII Long list :p I'll claim a character later

I wonder why they all have smiles on their faces :D at the end |

@Jon — I remember when I read that a couple years back, and it -still- blows my mind. It really does make sense, and fits, especially when you consider the drastic change at that point in the game. Of course, that obviously isn't the actual case with the story, but it's certainly something that makes you think. I still enjoy FFVIII everytime I play it, once or twice a year, and despite the criticism for the style in the second half I still find it a great game. The gameplay isn't my favorite, but I'm a fan of romance and whatnot when done well, and I enjoy the game for the story of Squall and Rinoa moreso than most other things in it. and yeah, I really want to pick up Complete. I just have to find it and grab it. I still find it hilarious I haven't played any Bluray movies on my PS3 since I got it and my HDTV. @All — Favorite character for the series .. hmm. [P.S. Any character listed means that it includes all their appearances in any of the games in the franchise] Zidane [IX] Garnet [IX] [And the rest of the IX cast.. >>;] Tidus [X/X-2] Yuna [X/X-2] Balthier [XII] Cloud [VII] Zack [VII] Tifa [VII] Vincent [VII] Reno [VII] Squall [VIII] Rinoa [VIII] Terra [VI] Lightning [XIII] Snow [XIII] I could prolly throw more into the ring, but I don't want to go overboard. Not really a character in the series I don't like, haha. |

@AZ - Prishe is an NPC from Final Fantasy XI. I had no idea who she was either, until Dissidia. @Shuy - I personally disagree with you on the romance aspect of FFVIII. I thought the Squall/Rinoa love angle in FFVIII was really weak. Don't feel bad about the Blu-Ray thing. I have a small collection myself, but I'm pretty sure the last Blu-Ray I bought (at least for myself. I did buy one for my father at Christmas) was Ichi. I consider myself an avid movie fan, but I haven't picked up a new Blu-Ray movie in probably 9 months. Not sure why. I had my camera handy, so I decided to take a few pictures of stuff I have that is Final Fantasy related. Even though I'm a fan of most of the games, I don't really have a lot of merchandise hanging around related to it. Jon's FF Merch I had a picture of my FFVII: AC Yuffie figure as well, but my camera decided to focus on the background when I took the picture, so the foreground is really blurry. Also, since the club is up, we should try and get a club logo. I did these for the time being, but I'm positive that someone else here can do something better (I have no artistic/photoshop ability). ![]() ![]() I don't have smaller versions of this made for signatures. |

@Jon: Wow There really really cool I worked on a few myself but they got deleted :L Hey who do you think would win in a fight between Squall and Cloud ^^ ? Don't ask me why they would be fighting maybe this? I think Cloud because I prefer Cloud and I think he's (if not older than the same age as Squall)Suggesting Squall uses a gunblade and Cloud uses a sword and Squall uses GF's and Cloud uses Materia who do you think will win ? |

@Jon — I'm gonna steal your figure set, Mmkay. More importantly however, I'm going to steal that Shinra UMD case. In fact, that shall be my first victim. :| @Watashi — Ahh, so that debate is now hitting this topic. I've seen it debated so often, but I've never really come to an answer myself. Their fighting styles are totally different, and the way AC portrays fighting styles makes Squall seem a more realistic fighter when compared to Cloud's more superhuman style athletic ability. Either way, I would have to cut it down the middle. If Cloud has the same style as Advent Children though, I don't see how Squall stands much chance. If you look at it from Dissidia though, I think they're more evenly matched, since they can both at least move in the same way. Squall is still more of a grounded, heads up and in your face fighter, though. I'd give Squall the edge in fighting skill, and Cloud the edge in power, so it balances out. Edit: I don't know when/if I'll have time, but if I do sometime in the next week I could maybe whip up something banner-wise. I'm not the best though, and I may not have time to do anything, but I'll at least throw it out there If I end up doing anything. |

@Shuy - Never! >:[ Anyway, I'm confident that whatever you can come up with in terms of a banner or logo image will be better than what I made. I just took the cover art for Dissidia, cut it in paint, then put in the Final Fantasy text. That's pretty much the extent of my skill. @Watashi - That's an odd comparison, although I guess it does sort of make sense. Also, Cloud is the older one. Squall is only 17 at the start of FFVIII (can you believe that?), while Cloud is 21 at the start of FFVII. Cloud is actually one of the oldest Final Fantasy protagonists. I remember reading something something about it while playing Dissidia 012. Lightning is the same age as him I believe, while most of the other characters in FF games have been in the 16 to 20 age bracket. Anyway, I partially agree with Shuy. If we are talking about AC Cloud, then Squall may as well roll over dead at the start of the fight. As I stated before, AC quickly got ridiculous and I prefer to think that things didn't quite happen the way that AC presents it. If you compare the two characters from their respective games (as you should >.>) then I still give the edge to Cloud. I consider Cloud to have a bit more military experience than Squall. It's difficult to compare fighting ability from the games standpoint though. Dissidia would be a good example, but the problem there is that their ability as a fighter largely depends on the person that is playing. As Shuy said, Squall is a bit faster, but Cloud has more power. The Gunblade doesn't really provide much benefit to Squall, since it doesn't actually shoot bullets from what I remember (it just causes the sword to vibrate to increase it's cutting potential). I also think the Gunblade would make for a terrible sword because of it's strange grip. Regardless, my bet is on Cloud, with one of the reasons obviously being that I like him more than Squall. |

I'm going with Cloud, though Squall does have speed, Cloud has the power. It was difficult to make that decision since I like both of them. Regarding Squall's Gunblade. I agree with Jon's statement about it's grip, that's why I prefer Seifer's Hyperion. I believe that his gunblade is slighter lighter than Squall's Lightning is slightly younger than Cloud, she just turned 21 during those thirteen days before the game started. I have a question for you guys. Which weapons did you prefer in the games? From VII and on, the variety of weapon choices decreased leaving only Lances, Blades, Staffs, Guns, and Gloves. The variety picked up again in FFXII. I never played XI so I wouldn't know about their choices. I always prefered Bows and Lances. That's one of the few things I liked about FFXII.

@Jon — I wouldn't put down simplicity like that, haha. Some of the best works can be done by doing basically just that. Take what you did, I like that. Simple and sweet. The only thing I would want to do is mess around with the font and blending options, but other than that a banner like that works great. You can easily overdo something, which is an issue I sometimes run into when I get excited about getting a new picture or font, or something like that. For the Gunblade grip stuff, considering Squall uses it for combat in FFVIII fine, and he/Seifer are said to be Gunblade Specialists [as stated by Cid, that appears to be rare, since he's excited to finally have one in SeeD] so I don't think that would cause any issues for him. I'm sure he could use and maneuver with it just fine, as if it was a normal sword and whatnot, and as if it's an extension of himself. Also I can see what you mean with Cloud. The only thing I have with that is while he is skilled and powerful, and has that military training, he was never actually Soldier. But he still has the training and power, and I didn't even think about how he's older. He does have a few advantages. I don't know, I'm just kinda 50/50 on it. By the way, when I mention Dissidia, I mean their in-game capabilities and skill. Not anything to do with the fact it's a game and we're controlling them. So imagine that they're both being controlled by the maximum settings of everything or something. @Yuna — I would have to say the unique weapons like the Buster Sword, Gunblade, Brotherhood, and the Swallow Blade of Zidane are my favorite weapons. They fall under the sword category for the most part, so I guess swords are my thing. |

@Shuy - I know, but I don't have a lot of self-confidence, so I almost always demean my work. In terms of the Gunblade, I'm sure he can handle it just fine, but I was thinking in more of a physical sense. Cloud's Buster Sword would be difficult to block or deflect with a normal sword due to its weight, let alone a sword with that style of grip. And no, he was never actually in Soldier, although he was training to get in. He was still an infantryman, so he does have military training which Squall does not. I don't recall exactly how long Squall was at the Balamb Garden Military Academy (if they ever stated it at all), but it doesn't appear to have been that long considering he was only just becoming a SeeD member at the start of the game. Of course, there isn't really a point comparing the characters based on that, since the things that we have been talking about happen around the start of their respective games. As for Dissidia, even if you went about maxing them out like that I'm pretty sure you get the same result. It depends mostly on the skill of the person playing, and if you leave things up to the AI, then you will most likely wind up with a random winner each match. In terms of in-game skills and capabilities, they also depend on how you use them. Squall is faster than Cloud, but his moves are mostly close range, which is risky because of Cloud's strength advantage. Cloud usually has a hard time hitting his moves because they are slower, but he can also smash through defenses much easier than others. Dissidia is like any other big crossover game, it's cool to see characters that wouldn't normally fight do just that, but they very rarely (if ever) answer the "who would win in a fight" arguments. It just boils down to which character you like more. Which is really the way it should be. @Yuna - I agree with Shuy. Despite the fact that the variety of weapons decreased a bit from VII on, the unique weapons of the later games are the ones I prefer. I rather liked Barrett's weapons from FFVII especially. He had some hilarious ones (Cannonball, Atomic Scissors, Chain Saw, Microlaser). In terms of the older games, I usually liked going with dual swords. |
