@dake: Two things. 1. I post uploaded files to the download database by hand, it is not automatic. 2. While I do read hiragana, I may only search for the romaji when I add the song.

| hi I'm new here so i want to ask: I just uploaded a song "takaramono" to fulfill the request but why isn't my uploaded song recognized in the download database? is it because the file name is in japanese hiragana? the mp3 tag is in alphabet though... |

Have you ever thought about putting your game s our making a forum app? Seeing as mobile gaming is getting more popular. I know how you feel about apple but what about android which its based on linux? I figured if you wanted to then you would have done it already, it's just one of those things that I thought about and was curious to know if you had too

Sorry if it was asked before, too lazy to browse through 30 pages. Is there a way to download all tracks hosted on site as one pack (with current naming/tagging scheme) instead of downloading one-by-one with limit of 100 dls per day? Like some torrent or something? It would be really handy. |

Lord of Lightning, to answer your questions, yes, character songs are not allowed on the site. OSTs also are not allowed. If a certain character song or OST track appear as an insert song and is credited in the credits, then it is allowed to be requested (and uploaded).  |

Umm...just wondering. I read on the Rules regarding amusic that we can just request songs that appeared on the anime. Does that mean character songs aren't allowed? Does that also apply into OST's? (Wait...I think OST's appear in anime) Anyway, I just wanted to ask if we can request character songs here (example: character songs for the anime K-On or such), since character songs didn't appear on the anime (or so do I think). Tnx. |

Why bother? Hmm, I feel like this website is a part of my identity. I do feel morally obligated to my users, especially those who have donated and/or helped out by uploading, etc. I get a sort of pleasure from seeing new added to the database, and marking a highly-voted request as uploaded.

@Gendou - So it's more of an obligation of sorts? Your response just makes me wonder even more. Judging by your answer, the site does not require a great deal of your attention and you have plenty of uses for the time you do have. You do not seem to get anything out of the site in terms of technical experience or money. I don't want to be blunt about it, but I guess what my question boils down to is "why bother?" Do you feel as though you should see this through to the end, since you went through the effort of creating the site? I'm sorry if I am prying into it too much. This has been something I have been thinking about since I last spoke with you. |

SunnyJ, my current hosting solution is provides more than enough resources for the site. Thanks for the offer, though! Jonathon, that's a good question. I don't spend nearly as much time on the site as I used to. Things are rather stable, if not quiet, in terms of moderation and administration. The process for adding songs to the database is maximally streamlined with help by the release dates managers and programmed automation. It ends up taking very little of my time! I haven't been watching much anime lately, but I'm still kind of into it. My career and wife do take up most of my time, of course. :) Lately I've been doing less programming on my own projects during my free time. Instead, I've been playing a lot of Minecraft. lol Donations still manage to pay the hosting costs. As long as that's the case, I will continue to add songs to the database.

Not sure if you've been asked this question recently, although you were asked at the beginning of this thread. Gendou, what drives you to keep this site running these days? Is it still a love for Anime, wanting to experiment with website functions and management, or something else entirely? You seem to, at least from what I know, have your life on track. I'm interested in knowing if there is any particular reason why you continue to put your time and resources into keeping the site up. Sorry if this has been recently asked at some point. |

Gendou, Have you looked into utilizing multiple servers before to offer alternate download locations for increasing bandwidth (would be easier for me to offer bandwidth)? Also, on the technical side, several of the songs when I download them have errors in them but if I re-download them they do not have those same errors.. any ideas?

Samurai X songs have been blacklisted for years. The same rules apply for song requests as well (unless stated otherwise).

Thats exactly what I mean :P I'm not sure how to add them to my itunes. I could burn them onto a disc and then add said disk to itunes, but that would be a rather long process and I was wondering if there was a shorter one :P |
