Hey, if you're an old gendou user and you know me, take a minute to read this.
So, after some years
of being a gendounian
I decided to make this
subjective conclusion
about how this community
has changed me, or rather,
has influenced me in my
way of life.
I came here as a boy
who was kind of new to watching
anime that weren't translated
into my mother-language yet.
To speak frankly,
I wasn't embraced in this community
right away, it was a steady process.
I broke rules and angered people,
but I learned quick that authority (mods)
doesnt like it to be questioned and
people would eventually start to remember me,
some as what I am like in reality,
some falling for my charades.
Let's get this straight,
chatting here didnt make me able to play
an instrument or teach me social skills.
And there was a time in my life
that was all about being online and chatting
here on gendou.com.
In that time, I could have done other things
and it's completely my own fault that I didnt.
But there were also a lot of things
that I learned from being here.
For example, my english improved by
approximately 100 times.
I found out about different cultures,
learned how to use Html and a bit of CSS,
how to behave in online conversations
and various other small things,
which maybe dont have a great value
in our society, but which made me
the person I am now.
Am I happy how I turned out?
Who knows, but if I would want to change,
it's up to me to do so.
My oppinion is,
that if you spent a lot of time here
it's neither good or bad.
But you have to stay in touch
with the real world constantly.
Anime is fading out of my life at the moment
and since I watched a lot of it,
thats a good thing to happen.
Thanks for the great hours of my life
that I was able to spend here.
Thanks to my wifes,
the friends I made in Chat,
the patient mods
and the great site-admin.
Long live the old chat generation :)
