Re-translation of Full Metal Alchemist Openers

After looking over all the translations of the Full Metal Alchemist openers on the internet, I was pretty disappointed with the fact that not one translator tried to keep the lyrics as music. It's just my opinion but when it comes to music, I think that translations that groove with the beat are more important than 100% accuracy (though both types have their place). Never to be one to complain helplessly, I got to work retranslating the songs myself. I'm stuck here at school with no access to P2P so these are the TV cuts. And here, without further ado, I present my first translation works: "Melissa" by Porno Graffitti Rip apart with me All past memory. Though it hurts you so I know they'll go. Stop it to a slow The sadness that I know you gave me not to show Now... you rip your way right through my heart, because it's in love! It'll be interesting to see what Funimation's English version of the intros will be like, but those are awesome.

These are pretty cool, I have to say. Though to me 'Melissa' makes little sense, but the other opening themes are just great! But I'm a bit torn. On one side I love how you translated the songs to fit with the music when sung in English. But on the other hand I'd rather have a true translation of it. I've seen some pretty shocking dubbed opening and closing themes or anime shows and it makes me laugh how bad they can be. But you've managed to capture what the songs are basically about and so I need to applaude you. Great job! I don't suppose you'd like to translate the ending themes for us now too, hm? ^_^ And welcome to the Forum! :D
