Does anyone out there do any hardcore Java or C++ programming? I'm just curious, since I really enjoy progging.

Anime is w00t. Anyone who says otherwise doesn't know what they're talking about. =)

I'm messing around with this marine biology simulation in Java I got a long while ago. I'm in the process of designing an environment that will allow fish to swim over or under each other, as well as bringing some other basic factors such as food and natural obstacles such as rocks, etc. It's a lot of work, but one of my friends and I are having a blast with it. We both love designing new types of fish to pop into our environment.

Yes java is the coolest (not really still needs to develop a little more). But you're doing the "fish study" right?

i'm studying Java right now. all i can say is that while it is enjoyable to a certain extent. It can be tedious, doing loops and crap.
anyways, i also heard about the "fish study" from my teacher. Its something that keeps my enthusiasm towards Java ongoing.

The fish project is really cool if you have a teacher that knows what he/she is doing. Let me know when you start, I can send you a few of my fish that don't require a modified Environment.

I use Java too. :) It was a little hard going from imperative to object-oriented, but it paid off. I think Java is one of the most flexible programs I learned, ever.

You can create your own fish class if you like, provided you remember to give it a picture and update the MBSGUI. It's a lot of fun. Especially when you make a fish that can totally destroy everyone else's fish.

I don't if you have found a good development environment, but when I was first learning Java I used a program called BlueJ, it was nice beacause it visualized your classes, so you could see how they interacted.
