Let's see what anime you guys think would suit my tastes. I'm relatively new to the anime world, but I know what I like. Given the following I've already seen: Noir Monster Hellsing Cowboy Bebop Samurai Champloo Witch Hunter Robin ... ok, I swear to god those came to me in that order, I had no intention of making a triangle-like thing :P As you can probably tell, I like down to earth, semi-realistic, dramatic series, with a bit of comic relief (plenty from Bebop and Champloo :P). Can't wait to hear what you think! |

Out of the several hundered that are there, I'm probably looking for 5 or 6 that are of similar style, I'm just wondering what people think those are. I prefer finding out if anybody knows the answers before I go about hunting for something that's already been found. |

Go here. Yae may also opt to read some synopses, especially those coming from the new titles. O.o "To be forgotten, is worse than death." |

You could try Mai-Hime, though it has more fantasy involved than those you listed. Hrm.. I've seen all of those and can't really come up with anything at the moment. :( |

Going by genre gives one too broad of a choice and not necessary about the same thing what you are searching for. As for any recommendations based on the few given titles. Noir -> Madlax, same team involved and it's down to the background pretty similar, with the second half being much more mystery-filled and surprising in Madlax. Cowboy Bebop/Samurai Champloo -> Ergo Proxy (a pretty new anime). Here the same, same studio and many people on board who worked also on Cowboy Bebop. Hellsing -> Hellsing Ultimate (new OVA, same background but darker and closer to the manga) Other suggestions would be: - Wolf's Rain (the theme and execution behind are reminders of WHR) - Gunslinger Girl (sort of Noir/Cowboy Bebop premise but slow-paced and centered more on the characters rather than the action) - Trigun (you can't go wrong with this one, often mentioned together with Cowboy Bebop) - Ghost in the Shell (less the movies, particularly the two SAC series) - Rurouni Kenshin Tsuiokuhen (1st OVA) - Basilisk - And on that matter Berserk (a bit far-fetched but ihmo the classic bonus does it and it's still above Basilisk and Samurai Champloo, though arguably not as gripping and dramatic as the Kenshin OVA) - Planetes & Last Exile. And last but not least two anime which are heavily influenced by the science fiction setting but manage to deliver a good and dramatic story which is kind of down-to-earth, in their own particular premise. :) Hmm, that should be the best what comes close. Not necessarily to my liking but the common consent about those series is pretty positive. Other similar things are too much of a love/hate question or lack anything mentionable in comparison. I also need to point out that there's currently no anime which comes about close to Monster. The only thing I could mention would be Master Keaton being by the same Mangaka but then again Yawara is by the same Mangaka as well, so take that suggestion with a grain of salt. ;) |

Thought I asked this in my previous post .. obviously not. Now with anime, are you willing to just buy it, or are you also inclined to download it? I ask this because the selection, in terms of buying, isn't as wide as downloading. Eh, well, of course, right? Not trying to say there isn't a wide enough selection as it is. God, I hope I'm making sense, I'm half-asleep here. :| |

@RiceBoks - I am niether inclined to buy it (no money) nor download it (no space, using a small laptop). I'm streaming all of this. @Keitarou - I'll have to take a look at those. I've seen a couple of episodes of Berserk and didn't much care for it. I'll have to take a look at the other ones you mentioned. I actually started Wolf's Rain. When I played the second episode, the fansub must have screwed up something, because the audio/visual is off by about 5 seconds. Tomorrow I'm probably going to look for another version of episode 2 on YouTube, then continue on. |

Yep I think I can get a pretty damn good start from this. Watching all of these series (that is, if they can be found at Keiichi) will take me some time. |
