Prettiest voice

I know there's a forum like this here, but that focuses on both beautiful music and vocals, and I wanted to focus just on vocals. What I'm curious about is who you all think has the most beautiful voice in anime music. Whose voice is so stunningly beautiful that it just makes you melt every time you hear her or him sing? They can be male or female vocalists, particularly female vocalists for the guys and male vocalists for the ladies, but same gender is okay, and I have a feeling the female vocalists are going to outnumber male vocalists here anyway. (They will for me, since I'm a guy and am a big sucker for female vocals.) :) Also, which group do you think sounds the most beautiful when they sing in harmony? For me, the prettiest voice would be the lead singer of See-Saw, who I think is Yuki Kajiuri, but I'm not sure. Whoever she is, though, she sings very beautifully, and is very talented. Here is a list of some songs with her voice. .hack://Legend of the Twilight Bracelet - Emerald Green Mermaid's Forest - Like an Angel .hack://SIGN - Yosashii Yoake .hack://Liminality - Senya Ichiya (A Thousand and One Nights) Gundam Seed - Tsuki Hitotsu My favorite song by them would be "Emerald Green" (the first one listed there). She sings very beautifully in that, and it's a pretty song overall, too. She even hits some high notes--not Mariah Carey screechie high notes, but high notes nonetheless. In fact, I remember watching that show on Cartoon Network once a week, and that song was played on the closing credits. And that darn announcer had to come on every time, and I was always like, "Come on, stupid announcer! Shut up so I can hear this lady's pretty voice!" By the time that announcer finally finished, the first verse (and only verse in the TV-size version) was either half over or totally over, and the show was only on once a week, then eventually went off the air. But at least I was able to download the song here. Also, this one is listed under Yuki Kajiura, but if I'm right about See-Saw's lead singer, then that must be the same person. .hack://SIGN - Mimiru (She isn't even singing words and it's sounds so beautiful!) At a close second place would be Rie Tanaka. Her song "Fields of Hope" (Gundam Seed Destiny) is very uplifting, and her voice adds to that. In fact, I was listening to that after a long day at work yesterday, and her soft sweet voice was just the thing to soothe my spirit. The only other song I've heard by her is "Emotion" (also from G.S. Destiny), but I'll download more later. Third place for me would probably be a tie between whoever sings "Akane's Lullaby" from Ranma 1/2 (There's no artist listed, though) and Mayu (Lamune - Lamuni-Iro no Melody). Mayu has a cute voice, but a lot of her singing sounds like it was recorded and then played back at a faster speed. Megumi Hayashibara also has a pretty good voice, and comes in fourth. Evangelion - Fly Me to the Moon (TV Size) (The other versions are by a different artist. Not sure why.) Slayers - Take Your Courage Cat Girl Nuku Nuku - Oshiete Happiness As for singing in harmony, I think See-Saw wins again there. Here are a few of their songs which have that (and more of their lead singer's lovely voice, too). :) .hack://Liminality - Kimi ga Ita Monogatari .hack://Liminality - Kioku .hack://Liminality - Liminality .hack://Liminality - Tasogare no Umi (Sea of Twilight) Gundam Seed Destiny - Kimi wa Boku ni Niteiru "Emerald Green" and "Tsuki Hitotsu" (mentioned earlier) have that also, but mostly at the end. And in "Emerald Green", you have to listen real closely at the end to hear it. Second place would be the Goddess Family Club, who does a lot of the songs for the "Ah! My Goddess" anime. They all have cute voices, and they sing beautifully together. Ah! My Goddess - My Heart Your Heart Ah! My Goddess TV - Open Your Mind Ah! My Goddess - Megami no Kimochi One of those songs doesn't have an artist listed, and one is listed as by Ishida Youko, but if I'm not mistaken, they're all by GFC. They sound the same anyway. Other good ones include Heart of Air and Kotoko. They're also very good in this category, but I don't know where to place them. Heart of Air: Zone of the Enders: Idolo - Kiss Me Sunlight Haibane Renmei - Blue Flow Haibane Renmei - Aoi Inori Kotoko: Onegai Teacher - I Can't Get Over Your Best Smile Onegai Teacher - Shooting Star For male vocalist, both individual and singing in harmony, I'd have to go with 20th Century (Eyeshield 21 - Innocence). That about covers it for me. What do you all think? L8er. |

The one with the prettiest voice is Rie Tanaka, who plays as Lacus Clyne in Gundam Seed and Gundam Seed Destiny. (original version Japanese) Not only is she an actress in real life, but also a singer. |

KOKIA! Her songs are just...wow. Pity she doesnt sing for anime. For males, I think Shunichi Miyamoto (sang Byakuya, Michishirube, Kaze ni Naritai for DNAngel) has a really nice voice. He ties with Akanishi Jin (some jpopboy band singer) in my book. |
Re: Prettiest voice

i really like Savage Genius and Kotoko's singing!! |
Re: Prettiest voice

Yes! Mika Nakashima! She has done about 3 anime songs. Find the way (Gundam Seed DESTINY), glamourous sky (NANA... and another I can't remember I'll be waiting here. So if you come here, you'll find me... I promise. |

Ooh, I'm hearing some good ones! Nice picks, everyone. I didn't care much for the singer of "Shell" from "Witch Hunter Robin", whose name is Hitomi Mieno, by the way (or the song for that matter), but other than that, I like the others, at least those that I have had time to check out or also happened to find. By the way, I did some research on See-Saw and Yuki Kajiura, and Chiaka Ishikawa is the lead singer of See-Saw, the one who I think has the prettiest singing voice in anime. Yuki Kajiura does backup vocals. Yuki Kajiura composed a lot of music for anime and hired a lot of vocalists--darn good ones, too (one of which is Chiaka Ishikawa, by the way). She also did solo projects under the name FictionJunction, and hired vocalists for that as well. Anyway, here's my updated list, based on this and what you all submitted. 1st place: Chiaka Ishikawa, lead singer of See-Saw See my original post for songs. 2nd place: Tie between Yuuka Nanri (FictionJunction YUUKA) and whoever sings "Mimiru" from ".hack://SIGN" I thought those were both the same singer as Chiaka Ishikawa at first, but I guess not. So since I confused them with her, and they sing just as good, they go in second. Here are some songs from FictionJunction YUUKA Madlax - I'm Here Madlax - Inside Your Heart Gundam Seed Destiny - Honoo no Tobira 3rd Place: Rie Tanaka. I found some more songs by her, by the way. Gundam Seed - Mizu no Akashi Gundam Seed - Shizukana Yoruni And of course we all know Fields of Hope. 4th place: Tie between Asuka Kato (FictionJunction ASUKA) and Minami Kuribayashi. I'm really starting to like Minami Kuribayashi a lot. She may even move up in my list later. Uh-oh, I think I just felt my heart get stolen right out from under me. :) In fact, I was going to put Asuka in 4th and Minami in 5th, but I kept changing my mind and just couldn't decide, so I called it a tie. I found "Dream Wing" from just surfing around this site, but thanks to ZephrFlare for bringing her up also. :) As for Asuka Kato, Yuki Kajiuri sure knows how to pick 'em. Asuka Kato: Erementar Gerad - Everlasting Song Minami Kuribayashi: Mai Otome - Dream Wing Kimi ga Nozomu Elen - Precious Memories (sounds a lot like "Dream Wing", especially the beginning) Someone already mentioned "Blue Tears" from the same anime as the second one. 5th place: Tie between Kotoko and Mika Nakashima. Kotoko had a place in the singing in harmony category, but now that I think about it, they all have pretty voices. Mika Nakashima has a very nice voice, too. I only saw two anime songs from her on here--"Cry No More" (Blood+) and "Find the Way" (Gundam Seed). And a third one was just pointed out. Besides that, everything else stays the same. As for the singing in harmony category, first place would be a tie between See-Saw and the vocalists who did the songs from .hack://SIGN. I just wasn't sure if See-Saw did those, too, or what, but they don't. I don't know all the singers who did the .hack://SIGN songs, but they're in Yuki Kajiura's name, so I'll just give her credit. :) Third place would be Yui Horie and all her backup singers in the song "Friendship" from Love Hina. Everthing else is the same here also. Okay, that should cover it. L8er. |
Re: Prettiest voice

omg See-Saw is the best. they sound so good, and their songs are so peacefull ( Example : Kimi wa boku ni niteiru, The firt ending to Gundam seed and Emerald Green ) |
Re: Prettiest voice

All right, a fellow fan! Have you been a fan of See-Saw for long, or did you just find them? I've been a fan since I came to this site looking for .hack://SIGN music, but have been aware of them for a while. They also have some more not-so-peaceful songs (for lack of a better word), too. "Edge" is one, although I don't really like that one. Then there's "Kimi ga Ita Monogatari" (my second favorite next to "Emerald Green"), "Liminality" (a sad one), and "Kioku". Anyway, getting back on topic, Chiaka has an incredible voice and sings beautifully. And you should hear her really sing it out in the middle of "Tasogare no Umi". She's awesome! L8er. |
Re: Prettiest voice

kenny, it's chiaki, not chiaka ^^. she also has a solo album w/out yuki; you should check it out if you like her voice. in anime music i like best -youko ichikawa -akemi satou -youko takahashi -yuri nakamura does it have to be anime music? outside the anime realm, i think these people have the best vocals: -noriko sakai -yuko yamaguchi -junko iwao (not her earler anime music) |
Re: Prettiest voice

Whoopsie! Thanks for pointing out the misspelling, Bill. And I am looking specifically for anime music, but if anyone else has others outside of anime music, that's fine, too. But be sure to list them separately and specify that they're non-anime like Bill did. I haven't really heard any JPOP outside of anime music, but I have heard Vivian Hsu. I don't think she did anything for anime, though. She has a lovely voice, too. I'd place her at about the same level as Rie Tanaka. |

Maaya Sakamoto forever! *__* Kiseki no Umi - Record of Lodoss War Yakusoku wa iranai - Tenku no Escaflowne Mameshiba - Earth Girl Arujuna and so on...=P
I'd choose to be a daisy,
If I might be a flower,
Closing my petals softly
At twilight's quiet hour;
And waking in the morning,
When falls the early dew,
To welcome Heaven's bright sunshine,
And Heaven's bright teardrops, too.

Nobody wrote Rythem? Harmonia from Naruto and Comet Cloud from Yakitate Japan is just so beautiful... And some of their other songs too, you won't find them here though, the other songs are not anime songs. Anyway, Mangekyou Kirakira by Rythem is their most beautiful song for me... And Amai Yume from School Rumble, sung by Unicorn Table is a very beautiful song too, luckily you can get it in this site! |
