You guys know those Status Ailments Indicator are indicators that your rpg characters had when they get status ailments such as Paralyz,Poison,Freeze,Petrified,Confuse,Weak, etc. which help you to know your character condition easily.

Several rpg have good indicators like Final Fantasy(Your character spins around when confused, turned to a stone statue when petrified, covered in ice when Frozen, etc.)while several rpg have terrible indicators like Xenosaga 2(nothing but just small ball above your character to show Weak,Poison, etc.)which makes it rather hard to identify the condition of your character.

Please tell me/us which rpg have the best Status Ailments Indicator. and please don't forget to add how the characters looked/behave/condition when they get those status ailments, okay?^^

Arigatou gozaimasu!!

Final Fantasy IX gives all the necessary information by the first time yae visit Qu's Marsh; a tutorial--yae will see 2 moogles cutely discussing 'em! ^^;

The game includes 3 types of status effects: bad, very bad, and good. The bad and very bad status effects can be prevented either by using an item, equipping an accessory, or by junctioning an ability that will nullify them. The indicators are very literal (yae know how Squaresoft makes 'em--from their incantations, to BGMs), so rpg-players will barely have difficulty to figure them out.

A. Bad Status Effects: These are temporary, and will wear off after the fight.
  • Berserk
Effect: Self-explanatory, however, it will attack on its own and the damage will be greater! Don’t worry, it won’t attack your party though.
    Cure: Gysahl Greens

  • Confuse
Effect: Unlike Berserk, the confused one will randomly attack either any in your party or the opponent itself.
    Cure: Equip Clear Headed ability

  • Freeze
Effect: Character is completely frozen and will be KO'd if attacked physically.
    Cure: Cast Fire to him/her.

  • Heat
Effect: Instant KO if yae dare move that character!
Cure: Cast Ice/Water magic to him/her; equip the Body Heat ability.

  • Mini
Effect: Character shrinks, strength is decreased badly.
    Cure: Remedy Item

  • Poison
    Effect: HP gradually drops.
Cure: Remedy or Antidote Item; Dagger’s Panacea; equip Antibody Ability

  • Sleep
Effect: Off to dreamland; ATB stops in an instant.
Cure: Remedy Item; equip the Insomniac Ability

  • Slow
Effect: When Slowed, your character’s ATB will fill up slower than normal. You’ll miss a couple of turns if your inflicted with this condition.
    Cure: Use the Remedy Item

  • Stop
Effect: Character's in nay motion and ATB is temporarily stopped. If everyone in the party is stopped, GAME OVER!
Cure: Remedy Item; equip the Locomotion Ability

B. Very Bad Status Effects: These are permanent, unless yae cure 'em.
  • Darkness
Effect: Blind. Characters have high percentage of missing targets (physical attacks).
Cure: EyeDrop/Remedy Item; equip the Bright Eyes ability.

  • Petrify
    Effect: Stoned!
Cure: Soft; Dagger’s Stona Ability: equip the Jelly Ability

  • Silence
Effect: Character is unable to use magic.
Cure: Echo Screen/Remedy; equip the LoudMouth Ability

  • Trouble
Effect: All for one, one for all! If the troubled character is attacked, the rest of the party receives half the damage received by the former.
    Cure: Annoyntment Item

  • Venom
Effect: Just like posion, but your character will be immobile. If all of your party members are inflicted, GAME OVER!
Cure: Antidote Item, Dagger’s Panacea Ability

  • Virus
Effect: Character will not gain any EXP or AP after the battle.
    Cure: Vaccine Item

  • Zombie
Effect: Turns you into an undead character. Healing magic/items and other magic attacks will do massive damage.
    Cure: Magic Tag Item

C. Good Status Effects: Of course, these are good! They're caused by support magics.
  • Auto Life
Effect: Auto-revives your character with good amount of HP.
  • Float
Character floats and is impervious to earth-based attacks; wind-attacks are doubled.
  • Haste
Fast ATB meter; prompts more turns.
  • Protect
When protected, that character will receive less damage from physical attacks.
  • Reflect
Self-explanatory, though some Magic attacks cannot be reflected.
  • Regen
That character will slowly recover HP.
  • Shell
Magic attacks are decreased by half.
  • Vanish
Invisible; impervious to physical attacks, but terminates if hit by any magic attacks.

Arggh!! Ah can't get enough of FF9! Hahaha...

A step away from the ordinary, Super Mario RPG! HAHAHA

All Status Ailments cured with Able Juice, and it's dirt cheap, no other 'medicine' exists. Certain items can prevent status effects.
  • Sleep
Effect: Simple, you go to sleep. Can't move at all.
    Cure: Get hit. Wait.
    Prevent: Wake-Up Pin.

  • Scarecrow
Effect: Turned into a scarecrow! Can't perform physical attacks or use items (I think).
Cure: Wait. I think getting hit with a Scarecrow spell undoes this.
    Prevent: Trueform Pin.

  • Mushroom
Effect: Turned into a Mushroom! Can't do anything, but every turn you will heal yourself.
    Cure: Wait
    Prevent: Trueform Pin.
Note: There is a secret item that causes this for you...

  • Poison
Effect: Turn purple. Gradually lowers HP, can't be killed by poison.
    Cure: Wait
    Prevent: Antidote Pin.

  • Fear
Effect: Character shakes. Frightened character attacks with half damage and receives double damage.
Cure: Wait. Time varies greatly, though.
Prevent: Fearless Pin. A couple of attacks can go through this, such as Kalimari's toss.

  • Mute
Effect: Speech bubble with X. Can't perform magic attacks.
    Cure: Wait.
    Prevent: Wake-Up Pin

*sighs* That took me a while to write....
