What does it mean if an upload doesn't make it?

I know I must be sounding uber-n00bish(possibly because I am when it comes to uploading here), but what does it mean if an upload isn't taken? Three of my first uploads went from 'pending' to nothing, but they were all songs from the Request List, and they all met the standards(as far as I could tell). Does this mean they aren't going to be added or that I did something wrong? Again, sorry for another lame question. I just want to know for future reference.

Anyone, correct me if I'm wrong...

If your upload wasn't taken by Gendou, the point would be 0. It means that he appreciated your effort for uploading but then he didn't use it, maybe because he found that somebody uploaded a better quality.

That was my first thought, but when one of the four songs made it up, and no other version of the other three songs I attempted to upload appeared on the site, I just didn't know. As far as I can tell, they all met the specifications: MP3 format, 128 or higher bitrate, filesize less than 12MB, etc.

Hey, what happens if you upload something but the song is taken off the request list due to lack of votes?
