hmmm... what kind of games do you mean? Block Puzzles games, like Tetris? Or platform like Mario? Give us more details, I am interested, if it's free.

I already had a version of gamemaker somewhere. I've been programming with everything possible. From basic trough borland c++ to script game makers. I like game maker, because it's relatively easy to use.(but after c++ and OpenGL everything seems more easy, if you know what I mean.)
If you like RPG-s then try RPGMaker2000 or 2003. That's easy to use too.

I don't really know. But RGMaker2003 has a quite nice battle system. And I know someone, who made a FF6 battle system with RPGmaker2000.(dunno how)

Yeah its good. I've used it before.
I saw some screenies posted where some made a cool looking FPS, or perhaps that's another kind of game creator like FPScreator ?

Im not very sure, but the best way to make the game perfect is to make your own game engine and build them your own.(Having your own game physics and self-built graphic engines - to show off your skills) (And I dont think you can sell your game to public using the game creator isnt it ? Only for private use or sharing with friends ?)

There're a few books that teaches you on game engine programming to the main game and physics programming, which is written by Andre LaMothe's Tricks of the Windows Game Programming Gurus. There are 2 seperate books, one is the basic ones and the other one is the 3D game developing.

I've the first one, but the second one is still on my waiting list.
