Yap, there are no galaxies in the world but there are galaxies in the universe...

I can't help in the improvement of this topic cause I only know the Milky Way and the Andromeda Nebulla... As for the title, there are billions of galaxies out there, its impossible to count them with the technology we have.

Actually I'm more concern about "how a galaxy was born". The space has nothing, completely vacuum. How can "matter" be produced, and then all the "matter" become nebula, planets, stars, galaxies......

@grissom: even in the most perfect vacuum, there are an infinite number of particles that are potentially in existence there, electron-positron pairs.

There is unlimited number of galaxies in our universe....

Do you Like anime ? I really love Anime ^^

You can't prove that the universe is unending. Some theories state that the universe eventually gets increasingly sparse, and there are no more stars, galaxies or anything anymore after a point. It's completely possible that there might be a finite number of galaxies and stars.

I agree.
There is a finite number of galaxy......but you must be crazy if you try to count how much it is.

there cannot be a finite number of galaxies unless you define what a galaxy is.
how many stars make a galaxy? how close together? for that matter, what is a star? at what point in Jupiter's history was it no longer a star? at what point in time did the sun become a star? these are obvious but not trivial questions.

should you define these clearly, you could then measure a finite number of galaxies in the (observable) universe at one point in time. this number amy be finite, but not STATIC. galaxies are born and die and join often. we can see these cosmic events undergoing various stages in our telescopes.

According to most scientists, there is no defined amount of galaxies in the entire universe even though that number will be a finite amount, given that we cannot detect matter after a certain distance within space, whether or not we have build a powerful telescope, but the area of our earth would be infinitely small compared to other galaxies. Galaxies may appear to be stars due to perspective, but are not defined as stars but a collaboration of celestial bodies that work similarly to the system that of the solar system, and at one point or another it would be meaningless to count galaxies because our universe is forever expanding, therefore making all counts inaccurate.

Those who think they know everything annoy those who actually do.
