Anime dubbing is bad.

Hi!! This is my first thread so don't kill me if the title is bad. I live in Malaysia. As such, the government, in an effort to improve Bahasa Melayu (Malaysia's first language) have dubbed nearly all Anime in B.Melayu and a bit in English. When I first saw Sailor moon in B.M, I think I must have puked. The voicing was horrible, the mouthings don't match and when they cry or anything... Well you get the pic. So what do YOU think of anime dubbing? Whether good or bad views, I'll accept them all!!

I know how you feel. I lived in Indonesia but I can watch from Malaysian channel. When I watch Naruto, with the dubbing, I really dissapointed and I almost cry seeing my fave charactes speak in other language.
dunno what to write now...
oh yeah... i'm gonna be crazy now...

i might as well watch the cantonese version of anime which are dubbed by hong kong, if you ask me to watch the malay version. to tell you the truth, i even find the english ones weird. no doubt they're better than the former ones. maybe it's 'coz i've already known japanese and i'm used to the original version. my view: anime dubbing isn't bad. it's just that they (people who're dubbing anime) need loads of improvement.

Not ALL dubs are bad. The Fullmetal Alchemist dub is pretty good. I like to watch both the subs and the dubs because I like to see the differences.

| No matter how good an anime is being dubed, i still prefer the orginal voices as the seiyuu's are chosen for the spesific characters. Anyway, we should always strive to get the originals. |

Hahaha... I'm from Malaysia too. Sad to say, I HAVE heard all the lousy dubs. Give me subs any day. Though, cantonese dubs aren't so bad. At least there's feel in the voice actors performance. Unlike some dubs I can think of... *shudder* |

| It depends on the anime. I like Princess Mononoke in both English and Japanese. Sometimes the English ones are good and sometimes they are horrible. I hate the Slayers and Naruto english dubs, they sound weird for the characters. I like the voices in AzuManga Daioh and Perfect Blue. I think it's just preference and the different places in the world. |

I prefer dubs to subs any day. I just can't enjoy watching something good and continually having to read the bottom of the screen as well.

Yeah, the FMA dubs are pretty decent, and I've got princess mononoke on DVD so that I can watch it dubbed or not.

i dont know beacuse i enjoy it more in japanese but it is a problem too because you have to read that "#$%# letters and in the other side sometimes it dosent have a good translation and it losses sence (sorry fot this awful english

I'm immuned to Anime dubbing and have watched a lot of anime dubs in my entire life. So, I can't tell if its good or bad. I don't mind having them dubbed or subbed as long as I can follow through... |
