can we become invisible? what do we mean when we say to bend light?
and can we do that, bend light or become invisible?

To become invisible, one would have to keep light rays from bouncing off of their body, so that no light would reach an observer's eye. So, since black absorbs light, just dress completely in black and you will be invisible.

To bend light? Of course you can refract light. It is one of light's qualities I guess. And about the invisible thing...I'm not sure about that. I suppose anything is possible.

I was just kidding about the invisibility stuff, but bending light happens everywhere. When light travels through different mediums, it bends. An example:

Fill a glass with water and put a pencil into the glass at an angle. When viewed from the top of the glass, the pencil appears straight. But when viewed from the side of the glass, the pencil appears broken.

The water has a higher refractive index than the air. This means that light travels slower through the water, and bends slightly upon entering it.

This is the reason that mercury and venus don't block the sun. Their atmoshperes cause the light to bend around the planets.

Clear polished glass held up in front of you can appear invisible because the visible signature is very very small. It is impossible to have a 100% invisible object because there is no way to construct a perfect geometrical shape out of atoms. There is always some small imperfection in any material, even diamonds (thus the carat rating).

For a person to wear some suit and appear invisible to a human observer would be quite difficult. One possibility is to wear a suit that emits light directionally based on a computer model of the incoming light. So, if a person was standing on your left, and a green block was on your right, a green block would be drawn on the suit on your left, so that the person standing there would see it "through" you. The problem with this technology is that clothing bends and folds, making the calculations hard for the computer.

It should be possible for something to be inivisble to the eye as long as it doesn't reflect light into our eyes. It could relect all the ligh in an other direction or it could absorb all the light shine upon it. While the former is much more possible than the latter, both shold be able to giveyou "invisibility".

But you wouldn't be transparent, which is the common definition of invisible. You would be a walking mirror/black spot. People would still be able to tell where you are.

so, ninjas are invisible because they wear black!

invisibilty would be possible if you could bend light so that it goes around you or if it all goes through you...but it wouldn't be much use...you would be TOTALLY BLIND because no light would reach your eyes!
