Do you believe in it? Like most Americans I am about halfway between the thought of "You control your destiny" and "If it happens it happens,nothing you can do about it." There is an old story,Death in Thereran(I think), it goes like this. A servant of a Persian Noble asks his master "Can I please borrow your fastest horse,I have seen (the grim reaper) and I need to escape to Therean to save my life." The noble lent the servant his fastest horse and the servant fled to Therean. Soon after,the noble went inside and met D eath(the deity not the action) and asked D eath,"Why are you harassin my servant?" D eath replied "I was actually surprised to find him still here,I was to meet him in Therean." I interpet that story two ways: 1. You cannot escape your fate no matter what you do. 2. Do not try to escape D eath,for you may hasten it. What do you think about fate? |

From a Christian standpoint, only God knows anyone's fate. For me, I think of it then that I cannot escape it, so I cannot delay or change it. Basically yes I do believe in fate... What about Shinn from Gundam Seed Destiny? Doesn't he pilot Destiny?? Bad joke... |

I believe that Mankind decides his/her own fate. I question religion a lot and have never found the right one for me. I guess that is why I created my own. "I worship the God of Lemonade." You take the pieces of the religions that agree with you and make it your own. I belive there is a God, but I also believe there is Buddha. Gods in nature and such. So thus I create my own religion. Why can't there be more than one "Right" religion? "Because the bible says so?" Well, there are thousands of bibles that say "They" are right. How can one person be "Right" Can we not except that someone else can be right? We all wish for peace, maybe it can be the stop of war in the East over who exactly is "Right" It seems so simple. Yet so very difficult, but it won't go away on it's own.

I believe a person controls his, or her own destiny. AS to fate pretaining to death, there is no way to escape its inevitble.

Has anyone had one of those moments when you try to do something to escape danger,or even D eath itself,but then later learned that the safest plan would have ended up hurting you? I think that in man's plight to prolonge life,mankind may actually choose the worst path,leading to danger,not safety(as they hoped) In the story the servant fled from D eath,and ending up D ying because of it. Do you think this is irony played out by Fate? |

we do not control our own destinies, however we can influence them, what we have done in our pasts either lengthen or shortens to path to death no matter what, we fight to live longer, however, there is no way of possibly knowing if our decisions in times of crisis or emergency will effect the paths we walk,

I think that we have no real choice in our lives. Everything happens for a reason and no matter how hard we try to change something, we never will be able to.

I understand what you are saying Mako,but I think I would tend to agree with Renegade a bit more. I think we can influence or destinies. Like accepting medical help,or not doing something stupid like driving drunk. Someday living forever will be possible,if someone is inspired enough to do it. To me it is enevibital as day and night. I think immortality could be reached through rejuvination medical reasearch,although this may be way beyond our time,but that is,of corse, talking about natural losses. What about s? |

I don't believe in it at all. I don't think of death as a fate, jusy something that comes eventually. I am more of a cause and effect person. I wasn't fated to watch anime, I just stumbled upon it. I think the earth wasn't fated to be created, it just happened because of the right circumstances.  Jomunga eats your avatars. |

I believe that what decisions we make determines our fate. And some things DO happen for a reason. If people do become immortal, then it will mean the end of the world. Because if no one dies....then more and more resources will be needed and eventually they will be used up and then people will die slow painful deaths from lack of food or water. that is all for now ^_^

The only Fate I believe in is the Fate series by Type-Moon Actually, being religious myself, I believe in somewhat of a mix of fate and consequences of our own actions. There are some things that we can do differently in life, but in the end, it's still the same goal. There are just different paths that you can take to get there. |

when people say that i was destined to be something i don't want to be or to happen, i always refuse to believe. but i do believe that i was destined to meet people i'd known and the people i would know in the future. the position is that whatever the consequences of my decisions and actions are, are just part of my fate. and whenever i'm able to do something to counter predestined events in my life, i also think that it is part of my fate. but of course, death is the only fate i knew we couldn't escape, but if ever we did at some point, maybe because it's not yet time.  |

| Look if every choice I make leads me towards what I was 'destined' to do then doesn't that mean I chose it? Even if I am pre-determined to achieve something, I choose to do it on a conscious level without the influence of anything but my own past, present, and future. I think the only thing we can't choose is own birthright. We just kinda get dropped down here, but it's your choice whether you hit the ground running or take it slow. Born without legs, that's your birthright, got a terminal illness, birthright again. Now if you catch something in your life that causes something like the above then it's all on you. You set yourself up for the situation to occur. Even if I am shot in the face by a man tomorrow I chose to do that because I made each decision which led up to that end......waffles of mass deliciousness |
