Oh no not the I am confused about Evangelion people again. Don't worry if you are confused about the series, Everyone is, I call it the Evangelion Syndrome. But basically the last few eps are just about Shinji going crazy (again) and talking to himself and finding what he wants to do. If you didnt like the ending, (I havent seen anyone that did) then go watch the movie. Then you can be even more confused :D at least there is fighting involved. lol that reminds me, my friend wanted to watch evangelion but then his mom would only let him rent the last two eps because usually, those are the two best episodes. and now... My friend hates Evangelion edit: yes they killed all the angels, the last one was the floating human guy
(enter cool sig here)

*If you haven't seen the movie, spoiler warning* Actually, I think I can put it simple enough to understand. The last two episodes are essentially what is going on in Shinji's head during the final moments of The End of Evangelion at the part where Third Impact is occuring. The Movie itself is a much better explanation of what is going on. One of my friends used to describe it as the guys at Gainax paniced, since they didn't know how to end it in 2 episodes (to make a 26 ep. series) so they took all the concepts of what they thought they could have done but didn't have time for, and just slammed it into one messed up ending.
Beware the quiet people,
You don't know their intentions
(small signatures are sooo much cooler since they don't annoy people trying to read through posts!) |

I've heard rumors that they intended for the last couple of eppisodes to be similar in theme, scope, and violence to the End of Eva movie. But NGE had found itself being bombarded by angry Japanese parents in much the same way Power Rangers was here in the west... The last two eppisodes were scrapped part-way through production, and the animation studio was suddenly pressed for cash, having spent most of it on advertising as the series came to a close... |

To ケイ: What are you talking about? If you don't understand the last episodes, how are you going to understand the movie? It was really confusing. |

as a side note, the movie goes between chap. 24 ' chap 25, the last 2 episodes are the "human instrumentalization project" they talked about. basically it tries to make humans perfect by using help of other people to overcome one's defects. the movie takes place 12 hours before that, Watch carefully or you'll get confused! |
Re: Help me understand Neon Genesis Evangelion

You watch to episode 25 i think, where asuka is being helpless and you think the climax is about to come, then you hire the 2 movies. 1 of them is just a recap with a bit of new footage at the end, while the other is what i like to call the "real ending". However i could be wrong, but that's how i've always thought about it. |

I thought there's a third movie??? I mean that was the impression given at the end of the 2nd movie... He had to choose and everybody turned into pubbles and drain away and then then everything stopped. And the movie ends. WTH? |

That recap you speak of, senkei, is the first part of Death and Rebirth. The second part of D&R, is the first half of the End of Evangelion movie. Anyway, the ultimate conclusion is: After taking Adam into her body and uniting with Lilith, Rei becomes the body for mankind's new soul. After fusing with Eva-01 (and Shinji subsequently deciding that human beings don't deserve to live) she disperses an anti-AT field that encompases the planet, breaking down the AT fields of every living creature on Earth. Being the essence that keeps everything that lives in a consistant form, the sudden loss of everyone's AT fields causes their bodies to decompile at the celular level into the primordial ooze from which man came (surprise! it turns out, that's what LCL is!) Their souls are ingested into the giant Rei, fusing into the initial phase of what was supposed to be mankind, as the Angel it was ment to be. Shinji experiences this conciousnes as it forms, every living thing on the planet experiences the suffering he's felt, and, in turn, he experiences everyone elses, but he won't stop sewing dischord, he's too emotionaly scarred, and his subconcious fear of human contact (hedgehog's dillema) keeps him semi-individual. Finaly, Shinji concludes that while becoming a single being would allow mankind to exist as it was ment to, the need for love and companionship would not dissapear, because they could only be fufilled when humanity was composed of individuals, rather than existing as one. Thus, Shinji killes Lilith-Adam-Rei (as I like to call her, Humanis...) and the souls that compose her are ripped from each other and tossed assunder around the planet. Shinji is told that the souls will eventualy return to Earth if and when they get over the fact that they will never become one and regain the will to live. Thus, far, it seems that Shinji and Asuka are the only souls that feel that way. |

I suggest that if you really want to find out what most of the stuff in evangelion is you should do a little research. Most of evangelion has to do with religion on some level, and it takes a lot to understand some of it. Honestly, i own the series and i didn't understand most of it until i went on the internet and found out the meaning behind a lot of things in the series. Also, i suggest if you watch the movie, watch it agian with commentary, it explains A LOT. |

I didn't quite understand Evangelion too, so... let's help each other and read from these: Be wary of SPOILERS!

Are you talking about the last TV Episodes? Um... as I'm typing this, I'm not really watching it, and it's like 2 years ago that I've seen it the last time, so.... Anyway, the last episode tells you what it's like when The Human instrumentality project had succeeded (in which in "The End Of Eva", we know Shinji chooses the world as it is now, all over again, the world with A.T Field). A world with absolute freedom, a world where everyone can create their own world, a world where everyone are connected. Also, it gives a picture of what the world could be like had EVA and NERV never did existed. I think that's all I can write for now. I'll have to watch the movie again. |
