I want to be a computer programmer although i'm only in 8th grade. I still want to learn where to begin. If anyone could offer any advice or impart any knowledge , it would be most helpful.

it is fine that you are only in 8th grade, i started programming even earlier (6th grade).
it is my belief that one should first learn html. html is simple and will give you an insight into the analytical nature of programming. from there, it would be a good idea to learn javascript, because the two are so often used together. however, you should then soon start using C/C++. for this you will want to start learning about Unix/Linux. Ask some of your internet friends for a shell account and play around, or install linux on your own machine. Do not bother learning Java (not to be confused with javascript) until later. go strait from C/C++ and unix into perl. perl is ugly and perl is beautiful. you can play with CGI and then undoubtedly you will want to learn PHP. after C/C++ and perl, PHP will be a breeze to pick up. By then hopefully you can find yourself some kind of database account and you can learn SQL. If your still interested in learning more, you can dive into assembly and learn how computers REALLY work, but that is not for some people.
Here are some get-you-started-links:
HTML
Javascript
Unix
C/C++
Perl
PHP
Java
SQL

Yeah i agree with gendou, the earlier u started programming, u can easily learn more advance programming
well, the important thing for programer is practice a lot and know how to debug your own errors
this will help u a lot.
i think u should learn html code and visual basic
after that take C, C++ and JAVA including SQL, learn some MIPS programming and Eiffel language. that's it

long life....
