Energy is a concept in physics. It is thought that all the energy in the universe came to be during the big bang. This is unsatisfactory to some people seeking a deeper philosophical explanation of the origins of existence. To these people i suggest other disciplines, for physics is the science of the physical world, not the philosophy of its origins. It is true that by the laws of conservation of energy, some quanta of energy is never destroyed, nor created, but is exchanged. To ask how this is possible is rhetorical, it is an arbitrary postulate of a physical theory, which has shown to be useful in predicting the outcome of experiments, and therefore is accepted as part of the theory. Again, if you search for some deeper explanation, above the scientific one, you are looking in the wrong place. We, Homo Sapiens (humans) are living creatures composed of mainly hydrogen, oxygen, and carbon. These are atoms, which are made up of protons, neutrons, and electrons. Protons and neutrons are made up of quarks. These fundamental particles are packets of energy. In this sense, we are "made of energy". We can describe the energy of any component of a system, any material thing, or any other thing in nature (like light, antimatter, and exotic fundamental particles).
