What are your opinions? Do you think it should be legal or not? I think it should. I mean, telling a homosexual that they can't marry the one they love is insane. o.o |

And you know what I don't like? When people say, "The bible said that homosexuality is wrong." But what if whoever you're saying that to isn't Christian? Is it right for a Christian belief to become a law in a not entirely Christian nation? |

That's a good point, but two things: 1. most of the people taking offense are Christians and 2. it's like saying because a group of atheists find a christmas tree in a Christian neighborhood to be offensive, they should change the name to a holiday tree and remove all religious traits. How the minority can influence the majority is something I simply don't understand. |

Exactly. If Christians don't want two guys or girls to get married, THEN DON'T SHOW UP AT THE WEDDING. Let the people do whatever they want. If this is the land of the free, then where is all the freedom? |

In the hands of the rich. Also the lobbysts are trying to stop anything from passing and even companies like NAMBLA have them. |

Yes, the Marlon Brando Look-alikes have the true power. Freedom is a silly human fabrification. It should hold true for all if it is complete freedom. Quite frankly, since the government runs every aspect of your life until death, the only true freedom is the eternal embrace of the grave. |

this is a repeat topic. i won't lock it, but for my thoughts, see this thread. |
Re: Opinions about gay marriage...

Yeah, I remember the old thread of this. There were some good arguments, and a lot of weird ones. I still can't believe someone compared gay marriage to Hitler... I will just state this. Christians get upset by this because marriage is supposed to be "holy" or "religious". Yet, people get married in other countries that don't even believe in christianity. Also, why are atheists allowed to get married, but gays cannot because of "religious" views? |
Re: Opinions about gay marriage...

I think,if anything, this thread shows how opions changed from 2004 to 2006. It might just be the people on forum now,but there is a chance that it is becoming more accepted. There doesn't seem to be too many people swaying on the "not to get married" side as in 2004. But I think more people need to express thier opinions on this thread to make a concise conclusion. As for me,I live in the Sothern U.S. which is called the "Christian Belt" by the government. More christians live in the South than anyother part of the country or any part of the world. About 75% would say no,but I would agree with most peole on this thread |
Re: Opinions about gay marriage...

I don't really see a point of saying that they can't. If they love each other and want to get married, then, by all means, go ahead. Doesn't make much of a difference to me. |

75% of christians live in the South......hmmmmm.... That just brings something to mind.....racism....is it still bad in the south, I dont live there so I wouldnt know, I mean it is everywhere but knowing that 75% of christians live down there..... IT IS A REAL PITTY. Anyways, on with the thread.... WHY THE SHOULD PEOPLE CARE WHAT OTHERES ARE DOING!!!!!!!!!!!!! IT IS NOT YOUR LIFE!!! LET PEOPLE DO WHAT THEY WANT, WHY THE SHOULD WE CARE!!!? |
Re: Opinions about gay marriage...

I agree with the fact that if somebody wants to marry another person, we should just let them. When you think about it, it is neither good or bad for us. I am a mexican catholic and according to what the church and society say, homosexuality is bad and against the law of nature (?), but what everyone seems to forget is that nobody has the right to tell another person what they can or cannot do. We only have the right to give our opinion. As long as we respect other people, then I don't see a problem for this matter or another. |
Re: Opinions about gay marriage...

I think with the average divorce rate being over 50% people shouldn't be worrying about others people marraiges and rather there own. I don't think marraige should be considered "religious" or "holy" unless you plan of calling divorces "religious" or "holy" I'll bet that the average divorce rate for a gay marraige would be alot less that for a normal one. So people shouldn't complain, they already lost the privelige to complain when the divorce rate reached what it is now. |

Unfortuanately Mako, the strong harass the weak and pressure them to think the way they think,or dire consequences may occur. This confirms with the belief of If you're strong you live,if you're weak you die(or have your views changed.) |

well marraige is technically between a man and woman binding together and there is one thing that marraige main purpose and that is to have a child (natural birth). lesbian and gay couples can't do that... i don't really have a problem with same sex staying together but i'm strongly disagree with them going to marriage since it would destroy the very mening and essence of the word marriage. if they want to be accepted as one the should use different term something like "legally bond" or something... “I am the wisest man alive, for I know one thing, and that is that I know nothing.†|
