Link | by Daisuki on 2006-01-20 05:40:36
Maybe those questions have already been asked, if so dont flamme me T_T, there are the questions:

- First: Can you REALLY learn Japanese with those "Learning Japanese website" on internet and of course no teacher?

- Second: In my country, there is no Japanese teacher and almost no Japanese people at all. Well I am going to Europe next year for University's Studies. Here is my question, do you think if I could take extra japenese Lesson while doing my studies at the same times :s As my Jap language'experience, I dont know any kanji but I am able to understand quite a few word thanks to anime..

Thanks

You can learn Japanese without teacher or from website, my brother did it too... the problem is probably the grammar, because japanese grammar is pretty hard to learn.
If you could get japanese lessons in your university, then it would be better...

I agree with Naruto...

I self-teach myself, but I might have to repeat looking at a sentence several times, before I understand the grammatical structure. I still haven't learned when to use wa or ga.

hmmm, learning language is a very difficult... i've taken 4 semester of Latin, 2 semester of Spanish, 2 semester of italian and nome of them i became fluent (or atleast can speak casually)...

books are actually helpful but like i said it won't help you much... honestly, you can learn some basic with them and you can in fact, translate paragraps by yourself but still talking in thier respective language can be very hard.

the best way to learn a language is really have someone speaking in thier dialect listen to them and learn from it...

With anime experience learing japanese is very easy. Yesterday I went to a site that had 9 simple lessons about a page each.

With everything heard in anime I completely got everything in those lessons. I now am confident in my grammar and starting to memorize hiragana and katakana. Kanji is no go. ach.

I can spell my name in katakana! Horray.

daisuki >> if u REALLY wanna learn jap PROPERLY..

learning japanese websites: yeah, u can learn jap from these places. ur jap vocabulary might b better (might as well memorize the entire dictionary) but i doubt that anyone who learn using this method will b able to construct a proper sentence without sounding weird. well, if u visit the websites long enough eventually u'll b able to get the hang of it, but do u hav THAT much time?

watching anime: yeah, it's better than the previous method. but one problem, JAPS DONT SPEAK LIKE THE ANIME CHARACTERS DURING NORMAL CONVERSATIONS. & obviously u cant write like that for essays. note: i'm referring to learning jap PROPERLY. if u just want to understand jap better, then anime is good (^.^). oh, but that's IF u can get so many anime, & IF the subtitles r correct.

final comment: self-studying is effective, but the method differs for each person. i got my efforts paid off by manga, jpop & gameboy. & of course jap friends. anime... i dont know. i've been watching it for 20 yrs.
