I love The Boondocks. It's a great show. Does anyone have any opinions of it, I'd love to know what you guys and gals think.

If anyone's interested, here are the lyrics to the opening:

I am the stone that builder refused,
I am the visual, the inspiration,
That makes the ladies sing the blues,
I am the spark that makes your ideas bright,
The same spark that lights the dark,
So that you can know your left from your right.
I am the ballad in your box a bullets,
The inner glow, in the gun,
That let you know to call your brotha son.
The story that just begun, the promise of what's to come,
And I'm a remain a soldier,
Until the war is won.
Chop chop chop, judo flip...

There's too much politics in there for my taste. It is pretty funny, but
I like the samuri stuff, they're more shoting guns for no reason.

The Boondocks is one of the funniest shows that I have every seen. It's offensive but in a very funny, truthful (but exaggerated) way.

The Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown trial was a kicker for me.

You need a reason to be sad. You don't need a reason to be happy. The secret to happiness is to face the fact that the world is horrible.

For a show that prides itself on the awareness of the modern problems facing the black community(or African American),(EX. the episode of the dump rapper who just couldn't stop from getting shot due to the impose image of a black entertainer, the episode of R'Kelly and the importance of action vs. ability, the episode of racial profiling a.k.a, butt rape, etc. The thing that ruins the whole idyllic rebelliousness in the show is the fact that it formats in Anime style drawing.

Yes, most of the people might think I'm nitpicking, but now, the NAACP has nominated it for some sort of award. This award, I believe is something acknowledging a positive in the black community. Yet, if it were a show done by a white man, it would not have been nominated at all, discerning the plus in the community. But, it comes to the fact that the show is based on anime style animation. What's the difference between a white man doing black and a black man doing white. In this case, this is black man doing anime.

What is wrong with the Anime style?

That actually is probably better to use then any other style ou there.

I still read the comics of it in the newspaper, but the show is better, however I dont have dish or cable T_T.

Light and Dark

@Lith, interesting point, but I don't think the animation style is as important as the quality of the message. There are three simple reasons for the anime style, 1. anime is popular, 2. therefore, it will appeal to many by making them laugh and think at the same time, and 3. the comic strip already looks like anime or manga to begin with. What's wrong with an anime style? It's worth pointing out that a movie like Spirited Away, which was the highest grossing film in Japanese history barely made a splash, but when it came to America, nobody saw it. That means that people did not see it because of it's anime style. The Boondocks is indirectly rectifying this by appealing to everyone while using a beautiful anime style. If it took a black man to take advantage of such an obvious idea, so be it. I applaud Aaron Mcgruder, he's a true intellectual, someone to truly look up to. Also, the NAACP is directed towards achievements made by BLACK people, not positives in the community(why would anyone award something as vague as that?), what the hell do you think would happen if a WHITE man made it? If a white man made it, it would probably be nominated for an Emmy and Academy Award instead of just a NAACP Image award. Foolish racism aside, this is almost exactly what The Boondocks is talking about. How the races of the world aren't meant to overstep their boundaries, for example,as you said, "a black man doing anime."

Good point. I'd say your nickname, but I have no idea in hell what it is. What was a thinking anyways giving nods to an association based on race anyways?

All style set aside, i'd say Boondocks can dent the window South park has already shattered.

@Lith, thank you for seeing my point, I'm sorry if I seemed a bit harsh, to put it simply, I've read too much of The Boondocks. My nickname is ROQ, if you couldn't tell. Pronounced as rock. As for the window, if it's already been shattered, why bother denting it? Unless they get a new window? Is The Boondocks a new window in animated entertainment? We'll just have to wait and see I guess...

The Boondocks..I was afraid that noone on this site has even herd of it. It's an anime(kinda) but built around Hip-Hop and black culture. Very hilarious. Screw South Park, The Boondocks is comming up the Block now ni**a lol. P.S. Ni**a is said throughout the show continiously, lol. Plus Huey(Afro) is a very ponderous talker, he's sorta like the narrator. I wonder if there's gonna be a movie? cant wait to see the new episode this week!

Well after like 5 months, I have returned. I have the Intro and Ending. The Ending (it's only a beat) is really nice.

Welcome back! I have it too, nice little flute melody!

The song in last episode of the season is nice too, it's called "I Believe in It" by Isabella Antena! It's a nice dramatic blues song.

Humm, what ep. was it? I watch the Boondocks on Sundays sometimes, but I forget the entire order.

BTW, on the new ep. of the second season, how did Stinkmeanor return? LOL...that was incredible! (the ep.). A simple lucky sidestep!

The Passion of Reverend Ruckus is the episode with that song. It's the one where Ruckus tries to start his own religion and Huey tries to break his friend out of jail.

As for Stinkmeaner returning, I have no idea! I can't wait to see though! It's gonna be interesting how he comes back, cuz he had no family or anything. Oh well, can't wait till March!

I love Grandad's fight! It's hilarious and the chair throwing thing is a real thing! It really works too! Hilarious! The samurai fight scene was awesome too!

I don't know if this is true, but I heard a Japanese animator drew this anime like cartooon. I'm not sure though.
