hi! im just a newbie in creating a website. can you tell me how can i run asp files?

do yourself and your users a favor: use PHP not ASP all you need to know about PHP can be found at php.net

can i use php on freewebsites like geocities?

I looked at the Geocities website and they offer PHP but in the Pro package ($4.95/month). I assume you are taking the free package, so no php. There is also nothing mentioned of ASP on the Geocities website, so that could also explain why your ASP didn't run. To get free webhosting with php, just Google it. There: http://www.google.com/search?q=free+web+space+php I don't know which ones are good, but good luck!
