Anime reccomendations
Link | by pirateking888 on 2004-10-20 16:08:55
Honestly I have not seen many anime's. There are many I'd like to check out, but don't have the money, time, or right T.V. Channel.
I can mark down the one's not to suggest, for I don't like them much(no offense to fans)
Inuyasha, witch hunter, fruits basket, digi carot, and some other.I know most people love theses anime's, but they aren't my style.
I love crazy, well drawn, innovative, very different anime styles, so suggest some of those if you can. I'd reallyy appreciate it if anyone will. Thanks a lot!!!!!

Different anime styles?.. Hm.. How about...
New Fist of the North Star, Doogy Poo (has Christian motives...), JoJo's Bizarre Andventure, Kino's Journey, Reign: The Conquerer, Boogiepop Phantom, Texholyze, and um.. Yukikaze.
These are some of the different animes i've viewed but I don't recommend buying them without viewing them first. I personally bought Kino's Journey yet won't buy any of the other titles. Not that they are bad, I enjoyed watching them and will continue to. Try renting them first. Hope this helps.

well if you are into fansubs and downloading and you feel like something really dark gloomy and overall disturbing you could try Elfen Lied although i warn you this is VERY bloody and VERY psycological i dont recommend it for the weak of heart

Well, I recommend Rahxephon, which is a pretty interesting piece. The movie and the tv series are stand alone, so don't get confused.
Also of interest is X-tv if yer like gloomy stuff.

Hee. Don't worry about offending people. Everyone has different tastes, afterall, and I'll have to agree that I'm not much into those titles, either.
Hmm. An interesting one?
Some newer anime you could try is Yakitate! Japan. It's an anime entirely about the making of bread. Hee. It's entertaining. :3 It's currently airing in Japan now! ^_^
Another new anime you could try is Harukanaru Toki no Naka de ~hachiyoushou~ (sometimes referred to as HaruToki for short). Some people say it's a lot like Fushigi Yuugi, but I wouldn't know, not having seen that anime. Also currently airing in Japan - I think it's on episode 5 or 6 so far. ^^; I was first attracted to it by the music. Hee. And I believe that this was originally a manga which became a series of video games. :3
And I agree with That Man. If you can, try to pick up a copy of FLCL [aka Furi Kuri/Fooly Cooly]. That anime is awesome, and done by Gainax. Theye tried to incorporate ever genre in to six episodes. It's hilarious.
If you like something more short and good, I recommend Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust. Uh. Vampire anime. Title says it all. ^^; Animation is absolutely spectacular. It's a movie.
If you like more action-oriented anime, I guess you could try Saiyuuki Reload/Gunlock. The original Gensoumaden is notorious for being low-quality, animation wise, and is structured much like a regular cartoon. However, you might want to watch it just for the orignal plot, although there are a lot of fillers. And the second season is a filler plot. o.o Reload/Gunlock is a much better anime - the animation is completely different, and well done. I would advise reading the manga, too. Just because Minekura-sensei is awesome, and her art work is absolutely beautiful - she also does the manga Stigma, Wild Adapter, Bus Gamer, and some others.
If you hadn't noticed, Saiyuuki is my favourite. :3
You could also try DNAngel, which is a mahou *shounen* anime (as opposed to mahou shoujo. o.o;). Thankfully, as the main character is a guy, the sparkles aren't exactly appropriate so they're not there. It's about a 14 year old boy, Daisuke Niwa, who, on his 14th birthday, transforms into the legendary thief, Dark Mousy (definitely not of his own volition, trust me). Dark's goal is to steal art which was created before the cultural revolution, and seal them - the art, coincidently all created by the Hikari family, contain magic which could easily destroy/kill if left unchecked. Why is it his job? Hee. Find out. =P
Erm. More action anime you could try is Weiss Kreuz. 26 episode series on a group of assassins. It's better than how I'm describing it - I just haven't seen all of it yet. ^^; Lots of intrigue.
Another anime is Noir. Famous for its soundtrack (Yuki Kajiura again. I think they play 'Salva Nos' and 'Canta Per Me' entirely too often, but that's just my opinion) and the fact that, although it's an action anime, it's bloodless. It's more of a plot-driven anime, although most of the episodes (about 15 out of 26 episodes) are completely about character development.

Wow, the love/romance aspect is what I thrive for in an anime series. I'm not really into the crazy stuff like FLCL, I actually found that ... not enjoyable.
So perhaps you would like to try out:
- Bleach
- Full Metal Alchemist
- Spiral
- Get Backers
- Haibane Renmai
- Serial Experiments Lain

Noir: Mostly for the music, but a beautifully crafted anime anyway. haha. I loved the characterization.

.hack//SIGN: People complain about the talking, and almost the pointlessness and how slow it is, but I love it. It is slow to a good degree, but it works with a lot of things on the psychological level. Also famous for music by Yuki Kajiura.

X-TV: It's a good piece. Good music, nice animation, plot. I mean it's weird, but that's granted wit hte whole end of the world and magic in the midst of urbanization.

Evangelion: This is like the Bible of anime. If you wanna be well versed in it, you MUST watch it. Whether you like it or not is up to you, but there are elements you have to watch in it to appreciate the art of anime.

Samurai Deeper Kyo: Lots of people say the manga's better. I like it 'cause it can be a no-brainer and cause it also has bits of conversation that are lasting.

Escaflowne: I think this is probably more a taste preference, but i think the anime's quite well done, and i like the idea, music, and and plot.

Record of Lodoss War: This is a VERY old anime. Nevertheless, was a classic for its time. It's quite a nice piece - very gothic. Cause it has the Chronicles of the Heroic Knight remake, there will be contradicting facts, but if you watch them as separate animes, you'll appreciate the art of the past, and it's still very good.

Scryed: Action pact piece. It has tones of filler. When it finally gets the point though, it's good. It makes good points and has a good variation from other anime I've watched.

Heat Guy J: This is not a well known anime. I like it a lot. There is a celebration of life in this one, and that's not what you see an a lot of anime I suppose. Also nice urban, futuristic setting the the mafia. That's always fun.

Berserk: VERY different from the manga. It only goes 1/3 into the manga, then it just ends. I hate that, but it's prety good for what it did. If it continued, it'd probably get relatively repetitive and overly gory. The plots different too, but it's pretty well done. Lots of blood.

Soultaker: Maybe also a less well known anime. Nice futuristic, devilish sorta thing. I like the ideas and the ending. Pretty good cohesion, and fast pace.

Gundam Wing: I don't like the other gundams, this is the only one I like. Action, nice artwork. That's all I have to say.

That's mostly wha I have to recommend. I haven't watched Kenshin or Lain or Fushigi Yuugii any of those to talk about, but I'm sure you'veh eard of them already.

1) Bleach-It's freakin' cool, especially in later episodes.
2) Basilisk Kouga Ninpou Chou-Love the ninja battles.
3) Full Metal Alchemist-It has everything. Drama, action, etc.
4) Full Metal Panic-Watch it and you'll like it.
5) Full Metal Panic Fumoffu-It's ridiculously hillarious!!
6) Eyeshield 21-The idea of a wimpy kid-turned-hero is cool. I also
think that Hiruma is one cool dude.
7) Gundam SEED-I don't know, I just kinda like it. Worth checking out,
I guess.
8) Rurouni Kenshin-Awesome characters, epic storyline.
9) Peacemaker Kurogane-I guess it's because I'm into these samurai
and ninja anime.
10) Ah My Goddess-Belldandy is just too sweet to resist.

Bwahahahahahahahahaha

X tv is really good like you all said... but I would NOT reccomend the movie to it -X: The movie(sorry to fans of it)Theres almost no character development, and everything happens so fast.
Theres a good movie called "The place promised in our Early days" That won awards and stuff, its not a series but the animation is superb.

If you're into original stuff you cannot miss
Shinobuden 2X2. Its kinda of hard to find seeders though :( . ITs THE most hilarious anime ever... And I mean ever...

Bleach is a pretty original action shounen anime, its very atypical and with good plot.

Yakitate Japan.... omg hilarious, its about bread... Beleieve its like watching iron chef with trace amounts of LSD.. hilarious..

AIR. Very original anime, its not a shounen anime at all. The story is very moving... Id be careful though if you're a sucidial type, dont watch this lol. A lot of hardcore fans like it, but uhh if you're into like gundam this probably isnt for you...
