Anbody watch Poketto Monsutta(The Japanese version of Pokemon) and love it compared to the dumb english Pokemon here? I'm one of them. I started to know Pokemon by watching its Japanese Version earlier so when the tv station started to aired it in the english dubbed,i really get pissed of watching Satoshi as Ash(!?),Kasumi as Misty(!?),Takeshi as Brock(!?),Kojirou as James(!?),Musashi as Jesse(!?),Nyasu as Meowth(!?)and more.... Not just the bad voice acting,the opening songs are disgraceful too!!! I can't stand listening the song repeats the same word:Pokemon,Pokemon,Pokemon......Urghh!! That sounds like shit!! The original songs are far better and more matured compared to the dubbed ones. Other than that,Poketto Monsutta is SO different BECAUSE 4kids BAKAly cut off(aka Censored) some things in the Original version!! In that case,I want to know,Anbody watch Poketto Monsutta and love it compared to the dumb english Pokemon?  |

I watched it up to the Houen saga. Then I stopped because Shigeru (my favorite character) left and it seemed like a waste of money to borrow the Japanese videos. I still watch the movies though. I hate the dubbed version too. I don't know how anyone who has actually seen the Japanese version can stand to watch them. When I first saw it in English, I was like "What in the world is this?". I agree completely with you. The name changes are horrible, both the people and the pokemon's, and so are the voices. I just want to throw up every time I hear Shigeru's voice in English. The cuts are stupid too. I remember really early in the series, they cut out Satoshi pretending to be a bug just because the joke didn't make sense translated into English. The original songs are better and many of the movie songs have famous Japanese artists performing them. And why are almost all the jokes puns?! That is so annoying! No wonder so many people think Pokemon is garbage.

I agree when it comes to the movies. I remember that my sis and I saw the english versions when we were little. Then later on we saw trailers of the japanese versions of them and they looked soooo much better!

Thank you for repliyng this thread. I also feel the same. Shigeru's original voice played by Yuko Kobayashi sounds BETTER than Gary Oak(the f##k#ng dubbed version of Shigeru) because Gary sounds like DAMN brat. Same to his cheerleaders voices,the original is cuter and they sound like girls around 14-years old while the dubbed sound like 41-years old tried to imitate as 14..>_<" Hmm...do you know that 4kids(the company who 'transformed' Poketto Monsutta from an anime to a cartoon)also censored things in the Japanese version such as slight violence(What?),Japanese texts(What!?),Japanese culture(NANI!!?) and also fanservices(What!?Nani!?Fanservice in Poketto Monsutta!!)? |

personaly I liked the English Ver of the Kanto [I think thats it first set of gyms] but i never saw it in Japanese. However it just got real stupid after that.  |

"Poketto Monsutta" Call it Pocket Monsters, which is the way it's supposed to be spelled in English. Not that it matters, since the Japanese invented the word "Pokemon" anyway... And for that matter, the Japanese are doing plenty of screwing up of their own. The anime almost completely throws the rules of the games out the window (ESPECIALLY the strengths and weaknesses of the types...), they make one crappy filler episode after another, give numerous Pokemon barely any screentime, shoehorn Team Rocket into episodes they have no place in (hell, those guys stopped being entertaining hundreds of episodes ago), ignore events from the games, and don't get me started on the debacle that is the Battle Frontier arc... |

Wow, a pretty old post. Yeah, the game is definitely better than the show. I only find the movies and some shows (regardless in English or Japanese) appealing. I completely agree with name changes though, the changes in Japanese, I honestly have to say, SUCK. Even though I already know which ones which, I still say to myself, "They really shouldn't have changed it..." I don't really watch Pokemon anymore, people just send me videos of them. I find it particularly annoying sometimes, but in the end, I just watch the Japanese ones when I'm too bored to do anything else stupid. I'm not going to say much of the voice actors though, I really don't pay attention to those things. Hell, I don't pay attention to any Credits from anything. As for the game, I usually play it from time to time. The only reason I bought the most recent one (Diamond and/or Pearl) was because of my brother, considering he was gonna get one for me, I thought "Ah what the hell, might as well get a head start too." So I chose to get the game. Well, that's my story.

| The GB games are fun to play when bored, but the episodes after Kanto i'd say, started to suck and bore the hell out of you...I wonder when will the Poke-plague end? |

It won't end , Thunderkiss . Kids love it A LOT!!!!!!!!!! and this show is actually meant for kids ^^ , that's why teens like many of us will get bored eventually . But still , I like it still (I'm 19 , you see :P) as it is humorous and it did help me in my drawing skills (Go to the You Draw Thread , Sticky one ^^ , to see some drawings) . But to be honest , they do really run out of idea in creating better games of pokemon , they're all the ..... same to me , but it is still satisfactory. |
