Cannot re-download

If I lose my internet connection while downloading a song, it wont let me try to get it again! Like for example, I was downloading a song a little while ago and it only got 8 seconds downloaded before I was kicked off. I went back to try again, and instead of starting over, it automatically opened up my MusicMatch and just played 8 seconds of the song! It does that every time. I've lost three songs that way now. There was a question similar to this in the FAQ (the last question), but I didn't really understand the answer.

The last question in the FAQ doesn't really apply to your situation. It seems that after your download cuts off and you try to download it again your computer remembers downloading it the first time and assumes the download was complete and somehow finds the broken file you downloaded and opens it.
  • First, what browser are you using (likly candidates: IE, Netscape, Firefox, or Opera) and on what OS (probably Win)?
  • Second, how do you normally go about downloading a song (for the first time). Explain, do you just left click it and then let it download in Musicmatch or does a download box pop up, etc.
  • Third, you have successfully completed downloading a song, right? I assume downloads work fine unless you somehow lose your connection.

After that, then I can help you.

Or at least, upgrade your Windows Media Player (if you're using it) to 9 or 10. Because when i download songs using WMP7(xp default player) -- the songs cut off.

Psoplayer: First, I have IE and Windows XP. Second, a download box pops up. Third, yes I have successfully gotten songs before. It only does this when I loose my connection.

Shimizu Takako: A complete downloaded song usually will go to my MusicMatch, but I also already have Windows Media Player 9.

Hey Looms, why don't you try Opera? It saves your download from the previous state that it was left/stopped. And even if you've been disconnected multiple times, you could always "resume transfer" from the transfers panel. ^_^

First try using Firefox or some other browser. See how that works for you.

Well, I don't know if I can/should. My dad tried Opera and it wasn't working out too well- and we have pretty much the same computers. How would I even go about this, I've never tried changing my browser before.

Ask Ranger if you have Opera problems. He's solved them all and it's what we use 90% of the time. We also use FF to a lesser extent and MSIE only when we have to.

WARNING: To MSIE users. MISE uses activeX. Many website use this to do virus scans or business. If if you must use MSIE, Open the tools-internet options-advance tab and disable:

Uder Browsing Disable install on demand
Under security anything activeX and empty the temp internet files on exit.

Better yet switch to Opera.
