I was just wondering, are there any good medium length mystery/action books out there? I'm a big fan of the Chronicles of Narnia series by C.S. Lewis.(my favorite is "The Voyage of the Dawn Treader") I also like the Series of Unfortunate events and them who dun it books.

Well, this is not actually an action book... it's more of highlighting true events from a true story...:

Memoirs of Geisha a.k.a. Saiyuri by Arthur Golden.
I believe that they've recently done a movie of it. And I think S.Spielberg's the man behind it.

P.S.: I am really fond of this novel.

Have you ever read any of the dragonlance books? Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman are marvelous authors. They make tons of books. Also, yes I know this is for younger kids, there is a book called Dear Napolean, I Know You're Dead, but...... I absolutely love this book. No matter how old I get I love this book to death. I have read it about 12 times. To some it is cheesy, and boring. To me it's an enjoyable read to go back into childhood.

I don't know if you can categorize books by Sidney Sheldon as a mystery novel but I highly recommend you to get a copy of all his works. They're great and interesting, once you've started it you'll never put it down, I swear! Sidney is populary called the "Storyteller" because he holds your interest until the end. He has 80 million copies of books in print... (take note, all are #1 new york times best seller!). There's one adjective that fits Sheldon's work: "unputdowndable" ^^

I read almost all of his books....

Try Reading The Series of Unfortunate Events... by Lemony Snicket...
There are 12 books so far...
It's really good, especially if u like some kind of detectives stuffs.

Outsiders...
I read it before... IT's pretty good, but the ending is kinda sad and a bit wierd...

If you're into fantasy I recommend these...
Eragon and it's sequel Eldest are great books.
So is the Artemis Fowl series.
Harry Potter(if you haven't read them already)
The Lord of the Rings.
And Robert Jordan's The Wheel of Time, this one's a bit more adult.
The Wheel of Time is BRILLIANT!!! And huge. the author has been writing it since the late seventies and still hasn't finished it.
book 11 just came out a few months ago and the last one will come out in a couple of years. I will warn you though, each of these books has 800 to 1400 pages, so unless you have enough time to read a couple of chapters a day, and truely take in the complexity of the storie and characters, the whole thing will end up taking a few years to finish. Or if you're a quick reader like me it'll only take a few months.
