Songs not playing in Winamp

Hey, I'm new and am having a bit of trouble playing songs.

Okay, so I've downloaded a few songs already and they've played just fine so far in winamp. But then I went to double-click on a song to get it to play and it got this [1] next to its name and wouldn't play.

Ex: Angelic Layer - Ame Agari[1]

Instead it skips over to the next song on the list. Now it's happened to another song. But it hasn't happened to any of the other songs I have, only a couple of the ones I got from here. I have a feeling that it may just be something stupid I did, but if anyone could tell me how to fix it (delete and redownload, etc.), that would be great. Thanks!

You may have renamed a folder or changed the location after you have added the songs to your player. Just delete the song from your media library and add it again.

I tried that just now and that didn't seem to work. The songs still won't play. And now two more songs won't work. I checked the folder names and locations but nothing seems to have been moved around or changed. I suppose I'm just going to have to re-download and see if that does anything. But thank you for the suggestion! I wouldn't have thought of that myself.

Maybe your player requires/has to download a 'codec' or something for it to play the songs. When I had these Bleach CDs, I wasn't able to play them at first because WMP doesn't recognize the files; but it prompted me to get the correct 'codec' (XviD, in particular), then after that, I was able to watch the series.

Do you have any other players besides winamp? Why don't you try a different one and maybe it'll help you get the correct codec that it needs.

Music with the mp3 extention will not require any codec to play. If double clicking the files in windows (not in the playlist of winamp) doesn't work, do try downloading them again. If that doesn't work, check back here and I'll shoot some more suggestions at you.

Really? You see, the file extension present after I have downloaded the previous Bleach music was MPEG, not MP3. And WMP wasn't able to play them, though not until it prompted me to download a certain "codec"... or was it something else?! I'm confused. =X

I think I forgot how it actually happened, but the fix was really quick because it wasn't that too big to save. And now that this system has been reformatted, it has been deleted for good. Since then, I have not encountered this problem anymore. So retrieving all the lost music files wasn't that hard to do; luckily, to say the least. I made Winamp my default player instead of WMP because I can almost play all my media there, though I wonder why it's not working with Veil-san's.
