| Hahaha..my folks are finally allowing me to go japan for the fist time..need to save some money first though..so..anyone went to Japan before??for a holiday perhaps??some guides will be really appreciated..as i'm binded with my budget(sigh).. |

eating on a budget: have as many meals as possible at ramen stands traveling on a budget: get a day pass for the trains! its worth it. also, check for "youth hostels", they are the inexpensive alternative to staying at motels. dont confuse (love-) "hotel" with "motel" (place to stay the whole night). shopping on a budget: dont buy manga/anime!!! you can get that in the US. instead, get stuff from shrines instead.

Yes, I agree with Gendou. Don't spend on your money on manga/anime. A little here and there is ok. I suggest you look on google for some japanese festivals depending on when you're going. It's a neat cultural experience Foods can be expensive. This is just my opinion, but I would try as many different traditional Japanese foods as possible and not just noodles 3 meals a day. Basically, spend your money on things that you normally wont be able to get. Dont be afraid to try new things. Since you get to go to Japan, you might as well take a little bit of Japanese culture back with you. |

well it depends on how much extra cash you'll have, the plane rides is about $4000 round trip but i take air japan which might be expensive, but the cherry blossom festival would have been nice, but it might not have started yet, the reason i say this is because there is no preset date, it depends on something with the businesses, i used to live there and i went and it was fun. but as far as food, try some ramen but make it diff. than america, try miso bbq pork, or others. also dont be afraid to try the machines, they have machines with squid and other meats in cans, the juice is really good. but unless you read kanji dont look for manga or games too much, but if thats what you are looking forward to go ahead.  |
