does anyone think that rahxephon is a parody of evangelion?

Sure it has some similar aspects story-wise, but what mech series now-a-days doesn't have I-don't-want-to-pilot-it syndrome (sadly)? And yes , it follows the similar format of you just defeated the last target so here's the next for the next two episodes, but if that's copying anything, that goes way back to before Evangelion. RahXephon is still very much its own series and very different than others in my opinion.

it's not a parody though both their stories are similarly exhibited.
for me, the difference is mainly on the origin/history of both..
Eva is more inclined to religion, philosophy and psychology
whereas Rah focuses on music, civilization and culture

I agree that it draws a lot of influence from Evangelion, but really, how couldn't it? Eva was a pioneer of the mecha anime genre, it was undoubtably popular, and it got many more fans into the following so of course producers want to follow that formula.

However, I think the really big difference between the two is the main characters. Shinji and Ayato start out similar, but they really grow apart in character later. Shinji's mind gradually became derailed, but with Ayato, he was quite willing to pilot the Rahxephon after the first few episodes. After a few psychologically twisted events, he didn't waver from his destiny and eventually went and rewrote the past, ending everything with a fantastic ending.

And in the End of Evangelion... it was pure negativity and even though Shinji and Asuka and everyone had their martyrdom moments and eventually did separate back into their own bodies, there was no positivity to it.

they look similar, but i like evangelion, it storyline and mecha better than rahxephon.
