Thinking about installing a bay window—worth it?

We’re debating whether or not to install a bay window in our living room. The idea of more light and extra space sounds great, but I’m concerned about energy efficiency and cost. Has anyone done this recently? Is it worth the investment in a place like Boston?

We decided to go for a bow window https://ubrothersconstruction.com/catalog/windows/bay-and-bow in our dining area last summer, and honestly, it changed the whole vibe of the space. The natural light it brings in makes a huge difference, and the extra ledge space is great for plants and decor. The company we used offered energy-efficient glass and frame materials that actually improved our insulation — we noticed the difference during winter. Installation took a couple of days, but the crew was very respectful and tidy. It’s not the cheapest upgrade, but considering the aesthetic and functional value it adds, I’d say it’s worth every cent if you’re planning to stay in the house for a while.
