Hello! Question about Japan ^^v
|
|
Konnichiwa minna-san! I finally talked my parents into taking a trip to Japan sometime in the next years... I was wondering, if anyone could give me info on what time of year it would be to go there... Like what time the tourists fade away (if lol).. and also, what time of year does it get pretty warm there? anyway, Thank you very much! (and sorry if this info has been given on the boards already, I looked but couldn't find anything) |

where do you live? if you live in the southern states of the US it's gonna be relatively cold there, if you live in the Indonesian/Malaysian area, it'll also be relativly cold there, if you live in the NOrthern part of North america, it'll be relatively warm (and i'm talking about "during the same season") The best times are summer vacation: Warm, sunny, more time, and you wanna have more time, trust me. No snow, less rain, and you might even encounter a summer festival, which is rare if you don't go in summer, although they do hold some "mock summer festivals" for tourists. Winter Vacation: It'll be cold, possibly snowing, but you can go skiing, and you might even pass the new year there, you can go to shrines to see ceremonies and such. The snowfall is quite beautiful in the rural parts of japan, i've heard. Soak in hotsprings, no better time to do it than in the winter. Spring Break: You only get a week or two but it's so beautiful you'll pull your eye out and leave them in japan. Cherry Blossoms, this will probably be the busiest time of the year, I can assure you. Things are really expensive in japan comparatively, because they earn about twice as much as people in the US, so expect outrageous prices. There are usually always alot of tourists, unless you decide to go to a more rural town. Points of Destination on a Japanese Trip: Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto, Fukuoka, Hokkaido (If you have time, and in the summer, and you don't mind millions of people stuck on a tiny island) I'll eat you. |

Waii..I dream of going to Japan also. ^_^ I've always wanted to go during spring time. Along with doing tourist stuff, I'd also love to know about the ... anime / doujinshi stores over there. Anyone? Sorry to correct you on one thing. The Indonesian and Malaysian area are always hot throughout the year. Except for the ocassional rain during the monsoon season. There are no four seasons, so it's relatively summer all year long. |

| One thing that was failed to be mentioned was the humidity in Japan. During the summer, the humidity and the warm air can really be an uncomfortable feeling for the tourists, especially if you plan on walking a lot within the city. The Summer Obon depend also from city-to-city with each city hosting its own Summer Carnival during a particular weekend. Kyoto has its Gion Festival during the late summer months that is a must to see if you are considering a late vacation into the summer. Spring, is a great season to go, but you have to be cautious of the rain and possibly flash floods depending on which city you'll be visiting. |

How does the School Schedule thing work out? and what are some really cool classes they teach? Do Anime Girls look like J-Girls, lol, just wonderin? ^_^ What else is Japan known for besides the ANIME, Food, Gaming? China is known to have made everything there is in life lol!

* Japan is also known for its electronics (Playstation, cellphones, Pocket Dictionaries...the list can go on and on) and the shrines and temples. Japan is also noted for it's 'shinkansen' or bullet trains, as well as the various historical battle scenes and landmarks throughout the entire country. * Students are not required to come to school on Saturdays. Saturday classes are only offered twice a month, and students must pay for the extra lessons. Many students do hand over the $20 per hour fee to get a little help with their studies (taken from an article from the Nichi Bei Times (San Francisco) by Ryan Kimura, a teacher in the JET (Japan Exchange and Teaching) program in Fuji City, Shizuoka Prefecture) I am not sure if this includes 'cram sessions', but for any sort of after-hour teaching or class, a fee is required. * All students are required to wear uniforms. Girls have the skirts, while the boys have the ties. Many of the students hate their uniforms, and they find ways to "fight the system" by sagging their pants, rollling up their skirts, and a few may purposely forget to wear their ties. Earrings should never be worn and make-up is not allowed. |

| I want to clarify that I didn't say that Japan created the cellphone. I said that Japan is well known for the cellphone, seeing as the technology for the cellphones are way ahead of the U.S. They had camera phones and internet access on their cellphones much much earlier than the U.S., as well as the numerous styles and accessories for their cellphones. |
