Microphone Recodring problems
Link | by hitchi on 2004-08-23 06:59:56
When my microphone is simply plugged into the computer, it works fine. It picks up sound, everything. When I try to record something using Sound Recorder, it doesn't work. This would make sense, considering the mic is not checked in Sound Properties as the recording device. However, when I check it in the Recording section (in addition to Playback or not Playback at all,) it mutes the mic! When you check any other available recording device (you can only check one), the microphone picks up sound, but it will not record. What's up with this and how can I fix it? This problem is fairly recent, it happened last time I plugged the mic in. I've recorded things before so I don't know why it's muting the mic now.
I really need my microphone to work and a problem I've been suspecting from the beginning has more or less been confirmed. Real One player like, controls all other media players on my computer. Windows MP won't even open anymore, Creative player won't work, and perhaps something to the same affect is happening with Sound Recorder. There's "Record from Mic/Line In" option in R1, but you have to download a 14-day trial to get it and I need a long term solution. Basically, how can I eliminate R1's domination without deleting the program entirely? Simply, how can I get my frickin' mic to work?
