Hi pia-san ^_^

HNG is a very interesting anime. Talks about a boy, Shindoh Hikaru, a 6th grader, found an old go table in the attic of his grandfather's house. He sees some blood stains on the go table, and tries to wipe it off... when a ghost dressed in Heian period clothes pops out, and takes over his body.

The ghost happens to be Fujiwara no Sai, a member of the court during the Heian period(That was around 1000 years ago) Sai was one of the two men who was assigned as the go tutor to the emperor. The other tutor was envious of Sai, and challenged him to a go match -- whoever wins gets to stay as the court's go master. Sai's opponent cheats during the match, and before Sai could say anything about it, the opponent accused Sai of cheating. Sai was banished from the court, and because of regret and anger, he committed suicide. But as with all unrepented souls, Sai was unable to leave the material world... until he is able to master go, and get one step closer to "kami no itte," or god's hand.

As the story progressed, Hikaru gained the interest in playing Go and aimed to beat another boy, Akira (The son of the current strongest professional titled Go player in Japan, Touya Meiji), who is also a six grader. While Hikaru chases, Akira also strengthened himself to further their distance.

Mou...too long, but still a must watch anime. In one of the Japanese Magazine the "Nipponia" had also had an article about this anime. It was said that it encourage many Japanese school boys an girls started to like to play GO (A traditional checker formally from China, that was also brought into Japan in a later era)

So...guess that's all I can provide ^_^

Ive watched all 75 episodes. It wasnt bad, but I find it over rated.
I found that 75 episodes of pure go-ness isnt for me.

If you liked Prince of Tennis go for this anime.

Both animes focus to much on tennis and go, which I found dull.

If you liked either one I recommend watching the other.

Death Note and Hikaru no Go is drawn by the same person

Hikaru no Go - manga - has 189 chapters and 2 side stories at the end or 23 vols...ends when the North Star Cup is over...i think its a fitting conclusion

Hikaru no Go - Anime - has 75 eps and 1 special, 4 me it seems as tho the anime is incomplete cuz the last eps (in the special) is the preliminaries of the North Star Cup....then thats the end...seems like u want to watch more but there IS no more

Prince of Tennis - Anime - 178 eps, 2 OVA, 1 Movie
Prince of Tennis - Manga - on going, 297 chapters so far, about 33 vols

I like them all but i think the manga has a better ending then the anime cuz the anime leaves me hanging...maybe its cuz i read the manga first and i wanted to watch the battle between japan and korea...

i think u have to watch the special or the ending seems incomplete

Hikaru no go is quite good but is the anime and the manga same? I see the first 16 episods of anime and it is same with the manga, so I give up on it... But is the anime's ending same with manga's ending?

HNG is an anime really worth watching. It's interesting and funny. Besides that, there's Sai. I luv him. He's so adorable that makes me wanna hug him. He can also be very serious, especially in go. But both the manga and anime have their ending hanging. I'm really sad when Sai left. I even cried.
I just don't get it. Why does Sai have to leave?

I love Hikaru no Go too~!!

It's a very fun and the story has a strong value- sometimes things just won't be exactly like what we wished.I cried when I finished the manga.Coz Hikaru didn't win and the words he said at last, it was so sad~!!The story doesn't have an clear ending.I was hoping that there were more...too bad...

But I think the artist is very smart coz he didn't actually teach us how to play Go.Instead, he pay more attention on the story.I think that's what made the anime and manga nice.

I feel like crying....

HNG is a great anime and a great manga. Hikaru really changes as the show progresses. He's got some serious talent. He became so much after playing go for only 1 year. It completely rulz.

I liked the manga. I'm not sure if it's the same with the anime.

It doesn't have a lot of action but still pretty interesting for a series about go. It's sad at some times and has more of a real life sort of feel to it... probably because it goes over a long period of time so you get to see the change everyone...

But warning-- I didn't like the ending.
