Okay, whatever's your opinion about Marvel vs Capcom 2, please state here!! I've been playing this game for a couple of years and I LOVE beating up scrubs who think they can cheese the heck out of everyone! I just can't resist putting in the quarter! I hate playing top tiers too much because they are boring and I'm trying to be creative with new teams. I'm trying to learn Cammy here: (JP) Megaman / Projectile (JP) Sentinel / Ground (HP) Cammy / Anti-Air Sentinel is my Gundam Destiny!! |

I just got into playing it for PS2 (Just got a copy), and am loving it! I played MvC 1 a ton in the arcades back when, and never got the chance to really play MvC2... I hate people who do these cheese moves, as it's uncreative & boring to see people use the same characters time & time again & the same moves time & time again. It takes the fun out of playing when you know right away how someone is going to play, even if some of the strategies are somewhat effective :( |

Curse you Cable! ! ! ! ! ! Thank you.... Kneel Before the Great and Benevolent Cow! |

Cable is hated simply for his cheese... but I think his rushdown is way more annoying, and dishes out more damage if I may mention, than a simple Viper Beam. Viper Beam by itself is a pathetic move. Terrible startup and cooldown. Even for the damage it isn't worth the risk. At most I'll do the A Viper Beam for wakeups. His rushdown is way better for pressuring, and it's so darn simple to do, especially if you're got a huge opponent. If your opponent is small, then =/... it's hard to hit with his launcher, which actually has terrible range and hits really high for a middle move. Learn to rushdown with Cable and shock the people in the arcade next time. Some people actually thought I was using a cheat character lol. But then again all this is coming from where I am in Singapore...

I actually played the game when it was released... I used Magneto, Guile and Jill at that time... But I stopped when i saw the power cheese three... Cable,Sentinel,Blackheart and every people started copying the tech... couldnt get any decent practice at that time oh yeah... There was supposedly a game in development by Sammy and Capcom... but i never heard from it since Namco X Capcom was released (NxC was supposedly to celebrate the anniversery of Namco) Kneel Before the Great and Benevolent Cow! |

We imagined if a game much like "Mugen" appeared It was a "what if..?" Scenerio... in a MvsC2 environment sorta like... Marvel vs Capcom vs SNK vs Sammy vs Namco vs Bandai vs Square-Enix vs Koei vs Atlus vs... (well you know...) We could think of wierd battles like Gundam Wing vs Gokou with only the the feet of the Gundam Fitting the screen and when the Gundam ceases to function the pilot will come out and fight (sorta like Jin actually.. accept you are riding the mech in the first round or until it gets busted up.. lol) The Fight was inspired by Xenogears for the PS1 Wierd times... The cheapest combo I've used is Cable/Aero Iron man/Projectile Captain Commando/aero cheesy moves i use against the noobs to tease them and piss them off. My normal team is captain commando, hayato, strider or Ice man, cable (for his cheap air raids), ryu/ken/akuma, my sub for cable if playing a real player is Captain Commando.. He's my Fave Char by the way

for me i dont actually have a basic team, fav team nor fav chars....>.<;; i just pick random chars depending wat chars they r using (they as in the person challenging or i'm challenging them)like for example if they r using a projectile team by using ironman war machine and the not so loved cable i would use iceman, storm, and probably rouge. cuz of her power drain pisses ppl off cuz u cant block that move unless u grab them or jump away cuz for projectile team they tend to stay far away from u as possible and starts shooting away. storm well u seen how the cpu plays as storm it made storm crazy in speed u can barely block all those fast attack and once u get hit once they will start an air combo on u and that thanks to her speed u can dash/jump/fly watever right in front of them and then u can start attacking watch u'll see them either try to jump away from u and attempt a corner lock on u or they'll start blocking til they see an opening(which most ppl i face r too stupid to use strategies all they care about is the "pretty" colors from specials and either the amount of hit combos or their score). and well.......ice man he doesnt need much explaination for those who dont kno ice man is projectile teams main weakness in terms in offence and defence, ice mans ice beam does alot of chip damge yet pretty lethal in regular damge his special is only good if they r really close to u so all the ice cube thingy will hit and he can block any projectile attacks without a scratch making it a great shield but icemans weakness is a strong char like juggurant, hulk, zangrief, and etc. bleh all this tutorial is about the weakness of projectiles and wat good cahrs to go against them xD maybe one day i might be able to figure out wat my basic team shall be........someday >.<;; |

the advent (and still ongoing) of all these keepaway (or cheesers, a term which i don't really like to use) games is unhealthy to put it simply. it takes the fun of the game away, because your strategy now is simply centred around jumping in and doing a quick rush down. it's about as bad as playing on practice mode and beating the boss, then thinking that you're a god. for me as mentioned in another thread, my team is all about Cable : Anti-Air Magneto: Capture Captain Commando: Anti-Air Cable for rushdown and the occassional keepaway... and also the fastest light kick in the game. next time you play against an opponent, try this if you don't believe me. Mash at the light kick button. Most people will think that you're mad, but it gives you a real good headstart, s.Light Kick -> s.Medium Kick -> s.Heavy Kick -> Hyper Viper Beam That takes the wind out of most opponents. and sadly most people don't know about the sheer speed of Cable's standing light kick. Cable's assist is so-so. I only use it in serious emergencies, if at all. Magneto is pretty obvious here. EXTREME BITCH OF A RUSHDOWN, which isn't difficult to execute at all .And an average keep away with his beam at that. He's also decent with the pressure game. Fastest dash in the game. Magneto's assist is good for surprises, though rarely used. Captain Commando for versatility. Extremely easy to combo with, and easy setup for Captain Sword. Just angle in with a heavy kick and you're all party. j.Heavy Kick -> c.Light Kick -> s.Heavy Kick -> Captain Sword You can also end with captain corridor if you want to conserve your bar for whatever reason. Captain Commando's buddies are so-so. I would say the most useful is his ninja fella, who's good at countering the air game. The mummy is just terrible, and only useful against Blackheart, Juggernaught, Sentinel and all forms of Abyss. Captain Fire is decent keepaway with pretty ok cooldown and startup. Just make sure you do the A one, or you run the risk of getting hit with a rushdown. LOL. Captain Commando's extremely useless Captain Kick is good for the second form of Abyss. When the goo moulds into the ground, wait for about 1 second and send the mummy flying out. When the bubbles actually appear, Captain Kick to destroy them without you getting hit at all! Then just spam Captain Fire. etc etc. The game is generally ok as capcom games go. I still think that Act Cadenza and Guilty Gear are revolutionary though.

WAHHH!! I just thought up of a: HP color Jin/ Anti-Air LP color Sentinel/ Ground LP color Cable/ Anti-Air I just tried it and it rocks! I'm not saying this is going to win everytime but I have loads of fun with it! I used Jin when I first started and I get used to him more than any other character. I think of HP color Jin as Shinn from Gundam Seed Destiny with a huge mech (Sentinel) and a beamer just to help out this team. I'm going back for more wins! |

What a fantastic game, so hard to find a copy for PS2 now though for cheap....Top Tiers make this game pretty easy, especially with Storm who can just fly away from anyone. Basically anyone can be used pretty effectively in this game though which makes it great (with the obvious exception of Roll, who is in her own tier at the bottom). Good 'ol Roll tier... |

servbot... oh but there is... the little tyke's a cheesy b@stard... also hard to hit... The tech they use here for the little demon requires running... away... hitting... and running (damn cheaters...) Kneel Before the Great and Benevolent Cow! |
Re: Marvel vs Capcom 2 <--- Anything!!

wha-- you mean hit and run? bah. there are faster characters around. save for the fact that he's (ok, it) hard to it, it's just another character in the game which serves no purposes, despite its name as a "serv"bot.

no... servos not used because its fast... its because its hard to hit and its supers are (according to them... extra cheesy...)... Kneel Before the Great and Benevolent Cow! |

My favorite characters: Amigo (Because I like cacti, and I can do crazy 40 hit aerial combos with him.) Megaman (So damn cheap) Cable (So damn cheap) Venom (So damn cheap) I'll eat you. |

I remember playing in an arcade where these guys were using a list of combos they downloaded online. They're like, "Let me try this one" and then they'd get pissed when I cut them off with a throw or beat the crap out of them anyway. Moral of the story: You wanna use someone else's combos, try them at home on your Playstation kiddies, don't try them at an arcade when money is at stake. My characters are: Guile, Wolverine, and Juggernaut
