Re: top ten suckiest anime

Yeah he just said a bunch of the ones that cartoon network has shown. Two of which aren't even anime (Code Lyoko and PPG are crappy psuedo anime made in the U.S.) Also, there are many Lupin the III anime series he probably just means the one that's on adult swim. Most of those kid's shows and some of the ones that aren't have seriously altered. |
Re: top ten suckiest anime

Okay some of the titles that were listed only suck due to the companies that edit them so much. But if you say they suck because of the storylines, well that's your opinion. |
Re: top ten suckiest anime

Hey everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I wouldn't just slam that ten in the list. Most of those have been seriously cut when they are shown on tv. If you have time and access to them you might wanna see the uncut ones, they often are a lot different e.g. I saw the cut Escaflowne on Fox Kids years ago and didn't like it very much because it made no sense and now it's own of my favourite series. Actually... may I ask what your top ten is?

Re: top ten suckiest anime

Powerpuff Girls is not an anime. I happen to know for a fact. The guy who created it created was American and created other American shows. Some of those anime might have sucked because they were butchered half to death. I bet you would think Salor Moon was a bit more interesting if the Salor Scouts weren't glowing when they transform or if they left the yuri in between Uranus and Neptune. |

My list for the top ten suckiest anime goes to... 1. Alien Nine 2. Black Heaven 3. Elf Princess Rane 4. Ex-Driver 5. Gokudo 6. Mao-chan 7. NieA 8. Steam Detectives 9. Super Gals 10. Neo Ranga These are what I could come up with a the present. Gosh... How many sucky anime did i watch... |
Re: top ten suckiest anime

I guess I did come off a little strong, didn't mean to offend. The Crappiest anime I've ever seen is Ninja Resurrection..taht was disturbing to say the least. |

"I bet you would think Salor Moon was a bit more interesting if the Salor Scouts weren't glowing when they transform or if they left the yuri in between Uranus and Neptune." They glowed in the original too, but they also had some more lines that showed a bit more (about naked Barbie doll level, really). And to be technical, I think Haruka and Michiru fell closer to the shoujo-ai category than yuri (hell, they never even kissed!). |

I love Excel Saga, it's one of my favourites. I love it to pieces *waves Excel toy around*. Actually Sailor Victory isn't particularly good and I'm not fond of Dai-Guard although my friend adores it so I can't flame it.

Re: top ten suckiest anime

I think that worse than sucky anime, are those evil companies like funimation who take anime that was originally pretty good and cut it to death, so that they can sell it to the wrong age group (little kids). They gut the music and dub over it and then put their names all over it in the credits but taking out the original creators for the most part. I didn't mean to rant and sorry if I offend anyone but it seems very wrong. |
Re: top ten suckiest anime

Thank you. Finally someone who agrees with me. There are few things in the world that irk me more than that. Yes I hate when these evil companies cut all the good stuff out just so some kids can watch it. I could go on, but I don't want to push my luck or worse. |
Re: top ten suckiest anime

I have to strongly disagree with Dr.Kubapu. I actually like what Funamation does its anime. Their dubbing for Fruits Basket is one of the best I've heard. I refuse to listen to the Japanese version, it's too annoyingly cute. And the English songs are soo much better than the Japanese IMHO but if not Funamation gives you a choice. All English or all Japanese. At least one is getting their money's worth. Some distributors really rip you off on the dubbing and DVD setup. Like the late Pioneer doesn't offer English subtitles, you have to choose Japanese then switch to English. |
Re: top ten suckiest anime

Although the English voice actors for Fruits Basket did a competant job performance-wise...I find it offensive that almost none of them have had any previous exposure to anime other than DragonBall Z. The DVD of Fruits Basket (highly recommended with FANTASTIC extras) had one extra in which the English cast had a conversation about the work. By the end - I was shocked. Switching from Dragon Ball Z to Fruits Basket - most of them mentioned that they never realized anime could be this 'sweet'. My major issue with companies is when actors are commissioned who have had no experience whatsoever - making for sloppy line delivery and misinterpertation. Although I have to admit that Fruits Basket's dubbing is one of the best out there, it still annoyed me. BTW - Funimation also cut out any reference to the name endings (chan, san, kun) and thus some of the English scenes didn't make sense. As for Japanese songs transformed into English - while interesting , some part of me cries out that this is violating an artist's rights and destroying the integrity of the song. |

I totally agree with Jade. While Funimation is not the best dubbing company out there, they do a fantastic job with (some) of their series. They have a few decent voice actors (Justin Cook, Chuck Huber, John Burghmier, ect.), but it just doesn't cut it with the original Japanese version. I mean, the Japanese Seiyuu have EXCELLENT emotion when doing the screaming, yelling, laughing parts of anime, while most American actors do only half the job. Anyways, back to the point, I really think that they should hire people who are QUALIFIED for the job of English Anime Voice Acting. Anime voiceovers are WAY different the regular American shows, as it contains much more emotion, and some people just can't cry, laugh, or scream when told to without the right setting. Maybe they should make a school for voice acting? *Shiroi Hikari* |
Re: top ten suckiest anime

Uhm, Excel Saga? No... If it made no sense, you just plain lack a sense of humor or haven't watched anime long enough. Excel Saga was effectively parodying everything -- anime most of all. The whole thing about coming back to life was a joke on how in so many things people just can't die no matter what happens because the show would suck if they did. Ever heard the term "deus ex machina" -- god from the machine? In literature, it refers to those things where at the very end the person is saved by some higher power (than themselves, it doesn't always literally mean God. For example, being saved by a prince or something would suffice.) They were making fun of this sort of way of thinking. I agree too. I always hated when it is only through pure chance or someone else's help that the main character suceeds. As far as I'm concerned, they should suceed only through their own power. Basically, the show is one big very funny parody that makes fun of everything from certain things about life to anime itself (my favorite being when excel killed the artist who made excel saga...) Anyway, I also hated Ninja Ressurection. I couldn't find one point in it I actually liked. I don't know why since so many seem to love it, but, I just couldn't stand it. Definitely don't judge an anime by it's dub though people. It's completely unfair to the anime. It's not really the original author's fault if some idiot company in another country *cough dic *cough* decides that every single scene has a moment in it in which it's not 200% child safe (eg, no spitting, no toy guns, etc) and feels they are obligated to cut the heck out of everything, splice bits and peices here and there, change the dialog to such an extreme, and, just in general, screw up the story and everything else. Want to see a perfect example of dubs screwing up anime? Watch the CCS TV dub. They actually changed the order of the episodes. In fact, in their efforts to actually change which character was the main character, they actually screwed with the whole darned show! Lol, now THAT is what I call screwing up the story line... As for the whole voice acting department, probably the biggest issue is that the Japanese take it more seriously. Animation is a real thing that can even touch on serious matters like human nature. Whereas here, 99.999999999% of the animation made is strictly for children and usually quite dull or even annoying to anyone older. As such, it's a little harder for Americans to take things like voice acting as seriously as it should be. |
