Why ABC and BBC?!

I was soo bored...I thought I should start a thread about this....So....here it goes....does anyone like or have been called ABC and BBC??...oh..and ABC - American Born Chinese, BBC - British Born Chinese. Personally I hated it because it was being categorized, i feel as if it's discriminating me for being born outside of China. Right, i'm chinese and i'm born in Britain so i'm British Born Chinese, so what about that? I'm still human. The first time i was called a BBC, i had no idea what it meant apart from the idea that i couldn't be a British Broadcasting Channel >.< It was not funny, on the other hand i felt looked down and was given 3 letters. Going around categorizing people into letters is harsh, especially when it's Chinese people born in China. Right, they were born in the place of Chinese origins but why do they have to call us BBC/ABC (both are channels) lol!!

I share your feelings, cause i'm chinese and born in Britain. i don't think its fair to be categorized, cause i don't think it matters where you were born only what you consider yourself to be. I consider myself to be chinese full stop. What would happen if you were born on a plane in the middle of the pacific ocean and you are chinese, then they will be labeled PBC(PACIFIC BORN CHINESE)- which is STUPID !!!!!!!! AND SILLY

| Hmm, I've never been called an ABC :) Though, many people that I know consider themselves Chinese Americans and so do I because we are proud of being part of the Chinese Culture and the US. |
