hmmm I was just wondering about the history of gendou.com, how it started, how it developed, major ups and downs etc... hehehehe can somebody spend some time to tell us the story? =] |

Hmmm, well i would have to say that the impetus for this site started when my father bought our first family computer. that would have been 96 or so. i downloaded some midis from several RPG games, and made a Hyperstudio stack with all of them embedded in the page. I thought it was a pretty cool juke-box thingie so i wanted to show my friend. we both had 28.8k modems and used claris works to dial-up one another to share files. later, in 98 i think, we got some webspace allocated with our internet service, and we got a new 56k modem. i downloaded some of my first mp3s from various hotline servers and decided to put together my own. after playing with some old web development program, the name escapes me, i learned a bit of html. i put together an ugly frames page with a dozzen or so mp3s, probably around 2000. soon i had a few hundred songs up and i officially joined "the horde" which was a big anime music site at the time. they eventually lost their hosting and i went to college. i moved my page to my school's server and expanded to a couple thousand songs. at school i learned how to use Oracle database, re-wrote the music page, and wrote the forums. in 2004 i moved in with shinji, and made him the game music page. that eventually lost steam and was taken down in 2005 when i ditched my account on the school server and switched hosting to aplus.net dedicated. aplus sucks so i switched to my beloved dreamhost.

cooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool ^_^ hmmmm we've just started studying Oracle in my school, I didn't thought that it would be useful in the future hehe =p hmmmm based from your story you're probably at the age of 50? waahahahahahaha joke =p hmmm too bad the game music page closed down T_T I really like lots of game musics heehehe anyways thanks for sharing! and more power =] |
