Definitely Goku and Vegeta as Suki-Chan mentioned below. Ryu and Ken from any Street Fighter series/movies, the best of friends yet competitive when it comes to fighting. Yugi and Kaiba from Yu-Gi-Oh, Kaiba has never lost to anyone in a card duel except Yugi and Pegasus(he cheated by the way.....) and his determination to beat Yugi in a card duel is what make these two fierce rivals. Lupin III and Zanegata from the Lupin Series/Movies. Zanegata will try and capture Lupin even if it means going to the ends of the universe....  |

Kyou Sohma and Yuki Sohma from Fruits Basket. Heero Yuy and Milliardo Peacecraft from Gundam Wing. Yes, I know. Heero and Milliardo may not be apparent rivals, but I think it is implied. Who is the best Gundam pilot (in Gundam Wing)? ^_^ |

Domon Kasshu and TouHouFuHai Master Asia. Though they're student-teacher, they're great rivals. Mwu La Fllaga and Raww Le Klueze and... Ayanami Rei and Sohryu Asuka Langley. Though they're not official rivals, they have this rivalry thing. I like that, especially in the EVA games.

Seto Kaiba and Yuugi from Yugioh. They are rivals but not enemies. Kaiba's not exactly mean and vindictive towards Yuugi. They care about each other, one more than the other. Muroku and Hieiof Yu Yu Hakusho. They don't hate each other but heck both can put up a groundbreaking fight. Alucard and Alexander Anderson of Hellsing. They're just awesome. D and Leila of Vampire Hunter D. They oppose each other in the movie as hunters reaching for the same goal but nonetheless friends. |

I think the best rivals in anime to me, would probably be... Spike and Vicious (Cowboy Bebop), just because both of them have an intense hatred for each other and have nothing to lose. Every time they encounter one another, one or both usually end up dead or close. The same thing can be said about Alucard and Alexander Anderson (Hellsing), except they both push the badass meter to the limit. Oh, and they're not exactly normal fighters. Kazuma and Ryuho (s-Cry-ed). Come on, a good portion of the entire show is based on their rivalry. Besides, their fight on the last episode was very brutal and bloody. Inuyasha and Sesshomaru (Inuyasha). Ahh, good ole brotherly hate. Kenshin and Saitoh (actually quite a bit of characters in the show have a heated rivalry with Saitoh) (Rurouni Kenshin/Samurai X) is also a good rivalry because they both are top of the class samurai. Lupin and Zenigata (Lupin III). It's actually pretty funny. Goku and Vegita (Dragonball Z), come on, it's hard not to include these guys. Asuka and Rei (Neon Genesis Evangelion). Come on, their both pretty hot.
