Gravity

Hey its me again... i was just wonderin when will the gravitational pull of the earth will be reversed (ex. North will become south) entirely and wat will be the hassards that will come during this stage....

gravity is one of the fundemental forces in physics. gravity is felt by any 2 objects which have mass. the force is always attractive, and the magnitude of the force is dependant on their respective masses and their distance apart. the earth has gravity which pulls inward on all objects on the serfice. that is why when you jump up, you get pulled back down. all of your atoms are attracted to all of the atoms on the earth. --- electromagnetism is one of the fundemental forces of physics. all massive matter is composed of protons, nutrons, and electrons. protons carry something called a "charge" which is positive. electrons carry this same "charge" but they are negativly charged. matter with similar charge repells, whereas matter with dissimilar charge attracts. the earth has a magnetic field because of complex events taking place inside the molten core. all magnets have a north and south pole. the earth is no exception. --- when the core of the earth undergoes changes, the magnetic field generated by the earth can change direction. this is a slow process and takes millions of years to complete one revolution. the consequence is hard to comprehend because of the large amount of time involved. many animal species navigate using the earths magnetic field. these species would have to adapt to the changing direction. the fact that bird species still exist on an earth is a testimate to this evolution being possible. if you were to magically beam yourself into the future, to the point in time when the earth's magnetic field has rotated 180 degrees, your compas would point backwards! thats about it... ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Magnetic north is already changing too, its is currently around 600 miles I believe off of the north axis, the only true change that this does, is if you are using a compass and map you have to compensate for it.. how long till it goes full circle. i dont know, nor do i think that its a set time, there are ALOT of factors that cuase Earths magnetic field and its movement

The fact that the earth's rotational axis and magnetic axis do not align does not PROVE that they are moving relative to eachother. The earth's rotational axis is askew from it's orbital axis around the sun. This does not prove that the earth's rotational axis is changing. In fact, scientists concluded that the Earth's magnetic field is rotating because of the tell-tale polarization of very old rocks containing iron deposits. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

i meant it not as proof but to show that the effects of a moving magentic pole is visable so one could understand that it doesnt cause much of an effect, sorry if I was not clear

They haven't been moving they were never directly on the nore and south poles.

then how do you explain the changes of iron deposit polarization of those old stones in canada, and other stones around the world. the only way to have such a global change that is recorded to happen in the same time frame, would be a moving magnetic field, that would effect the entire world at the same time.. the only one that I know of that would fit that would be earths magnetic field, but i could be forgetting one.

because if you were to look a anchent chineses history you would notice they mined magnitized metal and used it for compasses(cant spell) all thats happening is as you said the iorn is old and has been there along time so over time it was being magnitized by a slow force under the earth even though for some odd reason the poles can change at any time from now to alot over 5000 years

the poles are moving at 50km a year and growing weaker too, also pole reversal does seem to happen at anytime but normally takes place every 200,000-300,000 years, the last one actaully near 780,000. But there are three danish stallites(cant spell either) monitering the movement. Also a reversal of the poles would take around 1000 years in which we wont have poles.. just a magnetic mess. http://science.nasa.gov/headlines/y2003/29dec_magneticfield.htm this is where i got most of my information.. and has a cool picture of the magnetic field during reversal.

hmm isnt the north pole really magnetic south and south pole, magnetic north? |

the same word... can use in human's relationship... an apple, tell us about the existence of gravity... thanks to newton... but if the pole all become disorder, sure it will cause chaos... i read a book about this... it said, plane cannot fly properly and storm will happen... but i forgot about how it will happen... |
