no no no no NO! The title of the show is, written: FLCL. It is pronounced フリクリ (furikuri) and was translated for people who cant read Romaji as "fooly cooly" but if you pronounce it that way you should be dragged out into the street and shot in the head. as for the meaning of the title, it refers to a hand motion as described in one point in the show. this motion looks like the fondling of breasts to me, but it is open to the interpretation of the audience. It's not meant to mean anything. My interpretation is that it's just one of those things in life that has no explanation or name, so we just call it "furikuri." Wow...fondling huh? Times like this make me love FLCL all the more I heard it was a reference to Naota being a fool for trying to be too cool, but that doesn't make much sense, unless furi kuri in japanese means the same thing. |
