Can someone help me download anime fansubs??Thx a whole bunch, (sorry if my english is pathetic by the way)
Life starts simply , why change them?

BitTorrent is a file sharing technology that lets someone download a particular file from any of the other bittorrent users online with that file simulataneously (and also allows others seeking the file to download it from you simulataneously)... You can find bittorrent from http://www.bittorrent.com, and you may want to read up on it first to give you the whole explanation of how the technology works at http://www.bittorrent.com/introduction.html, and http://www.bittorrent.com/FAQ.html; |

hmm lets see.... i dont use that coz its defective try http://www.bitcomet.com and get that or dwl speed will be low... bitcomet is best used when you are asleep or away from the com coz it sucks up alot of power from your internet system but on mine iv seen it go up to 50-60kb/s. if its lower then say 40 you can add 1 more task for it to do and if you have more problems with stuff you view say the codecs n stuff go and dwl div X at http://www.divx.com ^_^ have a nice day |

Bittorrent is not a file. It is actually a server that helps a person download files of good quality. But people just call the files they got off bittorrent bittorent files. just like slayn said, http://www.bitcomet.com will probably be a good bet to get bittorent files. <3tt

I'd prefer not to make a new thread but I have a (more or less random) question. Say you were to use multiple types of "BitTorrent" on your computer with the same torrent. WOuld that speed up the process at all? |

no it won't.in fact, you'll have a problem downloading the file since there's other bittorrent software accessing to it.you might get error messages on the bt softwares. it's hard to explain but if you used 2 clients to download one torrent of the same file at the same time, there'll be a conflict:since client A is downloading one piece and client B is downloading a different piece, the two client doesn't inform one another of what they've downloaded.so client B might redownload what client A has just downloaded and stuff like that. (i'm not good at explaining things...T_T) |

k. I was just sitting watching the speed graph on a torrent and it just poped into my head. Thx If anyone can explain it better, please feel free. More info the better. PS. What is both saved the files in the same directory? Would that make them share the files and get it done 2x as fast or so? |

You could try it. :P But yeah, downloading the same torrent, with two different clients, at the same time, will not make it faster. You might even slow down your download as you're uploading. Depending how fast your download is going, it will be cut in half if you use two different clients. If you want to try it though, go right ahead. :D ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I don't believe doing that is possible. You're not allowed to have two files with the exact same name and extension in the same directory. Assuming it's the same file being used by 2 bittorrent programs, my guess is you would encounter an illegal operation error (as mentioned before while one program is reading and writing the other will get confused with the data change). If one was already there, putting another file with the same name will ask if you want to replace the file and not merge. Suppose they were in separate directories, in theory you could get it faster if both of the programs download different pieces (but then again your maximum download speed would be divided into the two programs). The problem then would be having two incomplete files and no way to merge the pieces as a bittorent program can't load two files of the same name when checking data (I don't know of any way to do it). At least this is how I think it works. In my opinion, your best bet is to find the optimal settings and let the program do its thing. |

agree with synai.just optimise one of your client and use that one.i've experimented with using 2 clients yesterday and uh...both the clients gets 0kb/s...(using uTorrent and Azureus at the same time) |

Bittorrent... the best way to get free anime... lol. But seriously, bitTorrent or how ever the capitalization is lol, is a method of downloading a file or files. bitTorrent splits up the file(s) into tiny pieces. (Thus the name i would think). It uses a .torrent file as a trigger to tell the client on the user's computer to look for other computers that are "seeding" the file(s). (Uploading the file(s)) It then downloads the pieces of the file and sort of puts them back together, into a file you can use. Any type of data can be transfered using bitTorrent, Music, Video, Anime, Images, you name it. There is also a "Tracker" involved here, but even I don't really understand what they do, they basically (as far as I know) provide data like how many seeders and peers there are.

A VERY common problem with bittorrent and the speeds you get, is often your router. A router, in case anyone doesn't know, which I hope you do, but i'll explain anyways, anyways, Router: a device used to link multiple computers together, so they can share files, and resources, namely, an internet connection. Now, bitTorrent clients don't like routers so much. Why? Well I could explain what goes wrong, but I'm not going to cause I'd be writing 10 paragraphs on it. Basically, the problem lies in port forwarding. First, download and install Azureus Java bitTorrent client. THis is with out a doubt, the best client I have found for torrents. Now set the port that it uses to something like, say, 6879. Now change your computer to a static IP. This is nessisary for this to work. Let me tell you, it helps a lot. Now go to your router's configuration panel. (Usually accessed through your web browser) Set a port forwarding thing from 6879 to 6879 for your computer's IP Aply changes. You may have to restart your computer when changing your IP address to a static IP.

also,if you're using Linksys WRT54G/GL/GS routers, your download speed might still be low even after you've followed what pyromaster did.follow this guide to help solve that problem.(side note:the only way to solve the download problem with Linksys WRT54G/GL/GS routers is via the upgrade of the router's firmware.the guide shows you how to upgrade the firmware.i reccomened that you know exactly what you're doing before upgrading the firmware) |

ok, one last question... Which program is the better one to use? I'm curently using Bitorrent but I would like something better to use. More important: easy to use, control over down/upload for each torrent, and one that justs downloads, installs, and is ready quickly like bittorent was. |

then i should reccomend using uTorrentdownload the(Get µTorrent 1.6 Standalone (170 kB)).it's small sized and don't use much RAM.and it has an easy to use interface. |

ok, I'm using it now and it seems a little faster (and I like the easter egg too :) ) Anyways, one very last question. Say I was in the middle of a download in Bittorent and I switched to uTorrent, could I keep the pieces I have and continue in the new cilent or do I have to keep bittorent running for a while till they're done? |

you can.but you still need the .torrent file so that uTorrent can check for the completed blocks and stuff(usually less than 5 minutes wait) |

Just open the torrent in uTorrent and have it save over where BitTorrent was already downloading the file. It should read through the file and check to see what has been downloaded already. It will probably end up being not quite as complete in uTorrent as it was in BitTorrent, due to the differences in the two clients' data storage methods. |
