What was your first?

What was the first anime that you saw to get you into the genre. I was just wondering if there was a trend between new viewers and old-school otakus.
As for me it was Robotech (which I now know is actually three different animes combined into one) and Voltron. Yeah, I'm old-school.

-sighs.- Pokemon, back in the day... God, that was so long ago... I still love Pokemon to this day, though, which quite frankly scares people. >_o

Well, the first I watched was Pokemon, but it wasn't the one that got me into anime.

Well, I had seen Ghost in the Shell before...as well as shows like Voltron and Speed Racer when I was younger...but it was with Tenchi in Tokyo on Toonami that I really started to get into anime.
I was in grad school at the time and was usually working late in my office on homework and such, but I always made sure I got home in time to watch Tenchi every evening.

Sailor Moon was my first. I was in the....2nd grade? Ya, 2nd grade. 3rd grade brought along Pokemon and Digimon. And it started to grow from there until my favoites list is now 14 animes long. Boy did that grow fast...

my first one was, mazinger I think, but there's also peter pan(anime version) and something like a space warrior that had a lance that shot lasers and a small ship that would be like a board for him to travel, it was very good anime

The first anime I ever saw was Sailor Moon, but Pokemon was the first one I watched regularly. I liked the first season of that, but it makes me sad to watch it now. I guess I didn't strat looking for new anime shows to watch until we got cabe and I started watching Toonami.

I see a lot of people starting off with Pokemon and Salior Moon. I take it this happens at an early age, before being exposed to more mature anime. Thanks for the input.

When I was about 11 my brother borrowed Ninja Scroll off a friend and I watched it with him.

I guess that would have to be...Sailor Moon...haha, I didn't even know it was an anime, or what the word anime even meant. Kinda learned it when I watched Cardcaptors.

I live in Holland. I think Transformers and Robotech is my first. I saw every morning at "Super channel". Wow, thatz a long time ago iv seen it XD. But I never knew and heard bout what anime is :( . Later Iv seen Fist of the North star. That time I thought Manga was the Name of Japanese Cartoons but never knew it was from the comics. I never knew Manga comics exists XD . But then, since PokeMon and DBZ are worldwide populair. I started to search more info's. Then I see everywhere "anime" this and that. And then I found Naruto and for the first time what "anime" is from alot of info's. Kinda weird, I actually seen couple of animes but never knew it was an anime.

I guess I would have to say it would be Voltron. Not the vehicle one or that 3D crap. The original one with all the lions. I remember watching that show when I was about 5 or 6 years old; about 15-16 years ago. From there I started watching Robotech and a few others.

Hmmm! When I was living in Germany, I had to either rent stuff... but I used to watch Osamu Tezuka's Unico movie all the time. When I found out it came on DVD in Japan I even imported it and I wuv it! ^^;
But, on actual TV, they showed Voltron. O.o; And I didn't really get into anime until I was in 7th grade when Sailor Moon suddenly got really popular.

It was Speed Racer. I was so used to cartoons being so nice that when I saw an episode where a guy fell down a well and died, I was WAITING for him to come back up and say "I'm alive!!" Then I realized, 'hey, this show's just honest. You CAN die from falling down a well.'
Then came Samurai Pizza Cats, Sailor Moon, Pokemon, Dragonball Z, and from there came the realization that I'm addicted to Japan.

What's that? You say you want me to shut up? Well, tough cookies.
