VB 4.0, Visual Basic 6.0 or Visual Basic .NET
Link | by ruyvlopez on 2005-07-05 19:23:09 (edited 2005-08-23 17:28:47)
Anyone interested in this kind of programming language? I've been using it since I was 2nd year high school and I've been developed 4 anime related games using this languages.

My question is this, What other programming languages or any programs that help me to construct and develop Animations, Anime Images and Game Characters?

PLS help me to construct my 5th Anime Game (My 2nd RPG Game) and I need some IMAGES, Sprite Images for the Character, and sounds.

Thanks for the Reply!

I believe all object oriented languages can be used... But Java, in my opinion, is a good language in developing games... Especially 3D ones...

When crossing a long and high bridge, don't look down to see how deep you can fall but look straight ahead to see what's awaiting for you...

For aline:

Hmmmm! Why you are very interested on the games that I developed?

By the way, I'm Ruy V. Lopez, from Pangasinan. I'm finding a good software in constructing images and sprite characters and any Game Developer Software so I can create my 2nd RPG Game. (VB and C# is my tool but it is very hard to construct using those because of the animation flicker and constructing new codes)

Hey if you want to have one of my games, can I have your home address and your true name? And specially, what format do you like, EXE Type or Code Type? (Please choose EXE, pls choose EXE, choose EXE....I know the reason if you choose Code Type. Please choose EXE.)
Reply my message aline AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!

For Ails:

I've already try JAVA in constructing games (it sucks), but it is better to use C# or VB.NET in 3D animation. Please don't be offended, I saying only the truth.

Pls reply my message AS SOON AS POSSIBLE !!

Hm..I hardly ever use Visual Basic anymore, but that's just a personal opinion. Even so, C# seems to be the better choice, simply because C++ and C# in general are being more widely used, imo.

And yes, Java's just..horrible. In very few ways does Java make a better programming language than the C series, for sure. :/

Hay naku! May Beginner pala sa Visual Basic!

For faith:

For your information, we say it by CODES. The simpliest/basic codes in visual basic is...

1. Conditional Statements (If, elseif, else, end if)
2. Loop Statements (For-Next, Do-While, Do-Until)
3. Boolian Statements (True, False)
4. Equational Statements (with the use of +,-,/,*,^, etc)
5. Array Statements (use program array)

Those only the 5 basics in this languages. The others are for the intermediate level in VB.

You can study those topics in order to survive Visual Basic Language. In further questions, you can ask me any examples, but not SOURCE CODES.

For ToiTodi:

I can't understand Portugues. Do you know other sites of this program that have English script embeded into the program so I can understand clearly. PLS!

For aku:

The most widely used programming language according to survey is Basic, not C. Visual Basic also the most used Object Oriented Language and not VC++ or C#. And Java is not always horrible, but to me, Java sucks in terms of Game Development.

Hey! Were is the reply of aline! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

For: seiko5/Natsume-san, the person that says: "Ang yabang mo!!!!"

Hoy! INGGIT KA LANG! Wahahahahaha!

If I know, you're one of the lowest grade of jerk I ever seen in GENDOU.COM. In what you say "Ang yabang mo!!!", which means I'm soo boostful! Hey I'm only saying the truth! But If you are a lowest class Filipino Jerk, you can't beat me in VB or any programming language that you can pick.

If you're a Filipino, so am I. But if I'm a programmer, you're NOT because you're only a NOVICE WANNABEE CODER! (Likes mo ikaw magaling, e wala kang maibubuga naman! Wahahahahahaha! Hanggang yabang ka lang ata, wala ka sa gawa!)

Mas OK ako dahil may ipagmamayabang, e ikaw UTOT mo lang ang kaya mong pangtapat sa akin! TAE! If I know, you can't even explain any of the examples I gave to "faith". A person like you that only talks trash have only a garbage brain. So beat me with your knowledge and guts, not in your words!

If you have no guts and afraid to lose, you're a coward person!

For TioTodi:

The Dark Basic Software has it's expiration date (it can be use for only 30 days). It is ok for me to build games for 30 Days, but I like Full Edition and softwares that has no time trial.

Do you have any crack or tips to stop the time trial?
How can I edit it to the registry to stop the time trial counter?

Oh, yeah for Ruy Lopez : can I try your 1st rpg game? I'd really want to play it. It doesn't matter if it's in EXE form, I just want to know how the game looks like. Could you send it to gladerefill@hotmail.com? If hotmail is too slow, use insan_ganang@yahoo.com please,, thx a lot!

For EX:

I just add you to my friendster account. I hope I can see your true face. Hehehehe! By the way, I also send a message in Yahoo Messanger to your address. Can you reply it as soon as possible.

For muzica:

Sorry! I can't grant your 2nd request because of those circumstances...

1. My 1st RPG Game has a shocking 78.4MB. It is hard to upload it to Yahoo or in my WebPost because I only use a dial up connection to access the internet.

2. It also needed a .OCX and .DLL Files that is in Visual Basic 4.0 (I can't recall that files because I lost those. It's been 7 years from now).

3. I can't turn it into EXE form because I have no copy of Visual Basic 4.0 16Bit Interface (my VB4.0 CD don't respond due to static and scratch)

I can only give to you my other games that I've made (but just only 1 game). Choose one...
* Weeding Peach Luck Game
* Anime Memory Game
* Tenchi Moyo Sniper Game

It is only 3 because I use VB 6.0 to those games.

By the way, try this sites

www.freevbcode.com
www.a1vbcode.com

I hope that this site will help you.
Pls reply as soon as possible because I'm so busy on studying Flash Animation.

For Ruy Lopez : I've checked out the sites, and it's useful! Thanks! So, your game has a whooping 70 MB? The play game time should also be long isn't it..? Well, if you're ok with it, any game will do.
You are studying flash animation? I bet it's to be mixed up with your games, right? Nice..,,;)
Thx once again!!

wow that's cool creating games by programming in vb... sigh... i've still got a long way to go... lots to study... n__n'

For nak:

About your question on how to upload an image in the picturebox, do you mean setting an image for the picturebox? hmm hope i was able to understand it correctly. dunno if this is the answer but hope it helps ^__^

you can put a picture into a picturebox in two ways:

1. Select the picturebox by clicking it once. go to the properties window. Usually it's at the right portion of vb, below the project window ^__^. If ever you can't find it go to the View Menu then look for Properties Window. You can also simply just press F4. Make sure you've selected the picturebox, because it's the picturebox's properties that you will be working on. Hope i'm not confusing you so far ^_^' In the Properties Window there are several properties listed like name, align, appearance, etc. Look for the property PICTURE. When you find it you'll see a button at the end with 3 periods (...) usually they call it ellipsis button i think... anyway click that one. And then there, a dialog box will appear asking you to specify from where you will be getting the image from. All you have to do is choose the picture from your files that you would like to place in the picturebox. When you run your program, the picture will be automatically displayed.

2. Another way is doing it by coding. Here is the code to upload the picture/image to the picturebox:

Picture1.Picture = LoadPicture ("Filename")

I don't know if this is right since I'm still studying how to program, but usually I place this code in the Form_Load event. This is so that when I run the program, it will automatically display the image in the picturebox. So when you run your program, tadaa the picturebox has a picture in it ^__^ If you want the image to appear after a specific event has been triggered like if you click the picturebox during runtime and that's the time when you want the image to be displayed, you can place the line of code there in the Click Event of the picturebox. Basically, you can place this line of code in any event where it is relevant.

Oh yeah, with regards to the picture, it usually appears in its normal size. so if ever you want it to fit the size of the picturebox you made, just go the the properties window again and set its AUTOSIZE property to True.

Hope this helps, if ever I got something wrong please do correct me ^__^ Maybe in a way my directions are a bit confusing but hopefully it may help ^__^
