Suggestion: Putting ads on the site

I don't really know where else to put this, and I don't recall any rules that say I can't discuss this kind of thing (if there are, I apologize), but I would like to suggest perhaps adding advertisements, or ads, to pages of the site. Given the rise of profits on advertisements, it would not be so painful for the users of the site to have to see ads in the blank parts of these pages. Many manga hosting sites and anime streaming sites make revenue on the advertisements they host, so perhaps Gendou could flourish in the same manner. For as long as I have been on this site, it has been ad free. I am grateful to being kept clear of a potential nuisance for so long, but in light of the decline in uploads for the past year or so, it might facilitate the upload rate to the site. Many people (including myself) have inquired about the decline and those in charge have been kind enough to answer. In their responses, they gave reasons for the declines. Though this suggestion doesn't address every possible reason they have for the decline, I hope that it would potentially facilitate uploads in some form or fashion. This is a suggestion and as such, I welcome feedback and opinions on the matter from everyone. Is this something we can all bear with if it helps bring Gendou back to its former glory? Is this easier said than done? Is there a deeper, heavier, and perhaps even legal reason that ads cannot be added? What would be the pros and cons of having advertisements? |

Revenue is not one of the reasons that updates are not as common. This site prides itself by being ad-free, and has turned down many people requesting the permission to put ads on the site as well. While I do see that your cause is true, I can also say that this site will never have ads, nor does it need them. Money is not a problem with keeping this site alive, it is time. The people that release music (myself and the admin) have been really busy the past few months. We are both working 40/50+ hours every week and have no time to sit and release songs a lot of the time. Nor is there anyone else that will be accepted at this time to help release music.  |

| I see. I appreciate your answer and the insight you have given me. I understand that there were other external factors that hinder you from posting as often as you could, but it is enlightening to know that time is your scarcest resource. I also really respect your stance on an ad free site. Thank you for answering and thank you for the hard work. I appreciate your time and patience with the post. :) |

It's mainly trust issues, and the fact that most people I think do not completely know what to look for when it comes to small mistakes, so bad music would get released often is what we fear. I will be releasing more music next week, as I will have some free time finally to be able to do so. My job title is changing, so I should be working less hours, and thus have more time to be able to do things like releasing music. I plan on releasing quite a lot all next week no matter the cost to my time though, so please be patient a little longer. Also, please link anybody asking about music to this thread. I believe this thread is the most informative when it comes to answers about music, so it would help a lot if people just read this instead of creating new threads and such. |

| Sadly the site isn't trying to promote itself throughout the years, otherwise member count would have increased a lot by now :( |
