Manga better than Anime

I think that Manga is much Better than Anime.
The story line is much in line and you get full detail of the story. In most anime when came from a manga they skip some of the scenes. But once in a while watching anime is a change.

They are very different media even though anime is, a lot of the time, based on manga. The transition, however, from printed page to animated series is never a smooth one because of many factors. You have to remember that anime is mostly targeted at the kids in Japan. Even so-called series targeted at adults that have more controverial themes (such as the fanservice and violence in Gantz) still need to be "toned down" for TV. As such, changes are inevitable. More controversial parts may have to be left out.
There are other considerations: the manga is still running, so the anime has to keep pace but not "overtake" and this requires the plot to be rewritten or for filler episodes to be added; the art style of the manga may not adapt well to an animated format (fine details may be lost); anime series have to be produced according to a prescribed format (usually 13 episodes to a season); etc etc etc.
I can accept the differences between the anime and manga. I try not to compare the two. ^_^;;

It's not so much targeted at kids as Japan still has laws about that's decent enough to put on TV. So it very well may still be targeted for it's age group, but just can't be converted into a TV anime very well because of those laws.
Personally I think I would prefer a manga to an anime anyday. I still love anime, but the manga is always better to me. It's the way the author originally intended it and that's always best. ^^

I like the Anime a lot better cause it'll surprise you easier than a book will. I mean there are sometimes pop ups that are meant for tv and not for mangas. If you read a Manga and there is supposed to be a surprise to make someone jump up, it doesn't really work does it?
I like to watch the Anime then read the Manga. It helps fill in some of the details left out. Also i like to watch the Anime first, so when I'm reading I have a better idea what the people sound like. The only problem... sometimes the series is mixed up compared with the Manga.

I'd have to agree that the Love Hina manga was 100 times better and funnier than the anime, but it's my thought that animes are harder to produce than mangas... It's all in the eye of the beholder.
Oh, I'm new to this forum. Hi.

this is kinda off topic, but my friend said that there are a lot of hentai-like sex scenes in the love hina anime. is this true or is he just bein' a flunken liar? i'm asking cause i want to buy the dvds and i really don't want to waste money on getting a show that's just an attempt at soft core porn masked by a tv series.

"When all the guys at work look at me, they see a fat ugly loser. Excepy Craig, with the lazy eye, he sees a fat ugly loser and the vending machines."

Hentai in Love Hina anime? Your friend must be on some serious medication or doesn't know the definition of hentai.
I am aware of a few perverts who might have animated their own little 'tributes' to the show, but otherwise the answer is a resounding no.
Still, don't waste your money on DVDs - it ain't worth it. Buy the manga from Tokyopop and download the anime for free if you like it.

I think it just depends on the title. I've heard people say they enjoy the anime more for a particular series (Fruits Basket for example) because it had a definite ending and didn't try to sustain the story for longer than it should have.
For Love Hina though, I would agree that the manga is better, but I still enjoy both very much. Another is Psychic Academy (by Katsu Aki who also did Escaflowne). The manga is almost identical to the anime (through 3 volumes) but the anime frustrated me a lot because they made each episode just 10 minutes long.
With manga, of course, you can peruse at your own pace and you don't have to worry about the storyline being interrupted until you reach the end of the book and have to wait for the next volume.

the fullmetal alchemist anime is better than the manga and the plot has diverged from it since they are being made at the same time.

The manga is almost always better, especially when the anime is screwed up (Love Hina, ESPECIALLY Excel Saga) or much shorter (Ah! My Goddess, Video Girl Ai)...

Ooooh I dunno. It's a difficult one to judge although sometimes thew manga goes a lot more into unspoken personal stuff (thinking of Saiyuki and Gravitation here) which rabid fangirls can pounce on (fanboys too in other series).
It really does depend what mood I'm in, altohugh my manga collection far outstrips my anime collection, but this could be because I'm a book obsessive generally.

"Where are we going and why am I in this handbasket?"

Manga is more detailed and gives you more info and in-depth story and some anime are a screw-up.
But then again I ended up buying it both sometimes I collect both the DVD and the Manga of the same anime.
For example: Gravitation have about 12 vol. to the Manga while the anime series only have 13 episodes. You get a lot more from the manga.
Now Marmalade Boy have 8 vol. to the Manga and the Anime have 76 episode + a movie. In t get a this case you get alot more in the anime + a whole lot more of characters.

Mangas are better than anime in my opinion. For example, the anime Negima / Mahou Sensei Negima looks abit poor in art quality, though its by Ken Akamatsu, the creator of Love Hina! I find the manga's art sooo much better, including much more longer storyline. Mahou Sensei Negima's music also rocks! ^_^

Anime rocks my world !!

This is very debatable. But here's my own opinion on several japanese cartoons. ((didn't feel like saying manga/anime))

Naruto: Manga
Hunter x Hunter: Anime
Rurouni Kenshin: Manga
FLCL: Anime
Samurai Deeper Kyo: Both
Samurai Champloo: Anime
Love Hina: Manga
Hellsing: Manga
One Peice: Manga

Ok... well that's only a few that I've read. But I really think it depends on the show/manga.

Manga is more informative about things over the anime. Though it could go either way - some manga suck while the anime is way better and vice versa... so yeah. Personally i like anime simply cause i got into it first and it seems to "come out" to you more... well me at least ^^

I just like both. But sometimes it depends on which one you saw first. If you saw the anime first, then you tend to like the anime more. Same thing with manga.

Manga so ranks over anime, love hina like you all said is a great example. The manga is a lot better.
Correct me if I am wronge but is not all or almost all anime manga first, so the manga is the true story?

I choose the path of Chaos! What path will you take?
