just bought a katana from a store near my house and when i took it out of the box it was dull nothing else was wrong with it it just wasn't sharp and the blade was thick. It only cost 45.99 usd(USA dollars) but it doesn't say anything on the blade like 404 steel or stainless steel. i was wondering if it would damage it to get sharpened.

sadly no they showed it to me but they said that they didn't want anyone to touch it becuase they thought someone would get cut.

Hmm, still I would've asked to see it before I bought it. He could've showed you himself. I would go back and maybe ask him about it since he would know better since he sold it to you.
