Anyone buy the new 4G iPod Touch?

Did anyone buy it? I'm sure I'm going to buy it soon for myself and give my sister my current 2G one. I tested the camera and video camera at the Apple store near my dorms and honestly, all the comments about how crappy the camera is might be false. Although when the 4G iPods first launched, there was rumor a bunch were just prototypes (kinda like the debut of the PS3 deal)... I tested the camera, and although I would've liked to test it outside, indoors looked good. Also you can snapshot like ten photos and there's no lag animation at all! It's a bit more powerful than its previous versions, though the whole rounded edges might be hard to get used to. For volume, you have to turn it since the switches for volume are embedded into the side rounded part. I'm thinking of getting the 32GB one which is 300$, I think that's an awesome deal! Also I like how it has blue-tooth capability in this version. Nicknamed like the iPhone without a dataplan. I Tweet a lot, and now I can post photos from pictures I take on my iPod instead of doing the whole computer transfer thing. Plus I said I would buy it if the camera was better than my Blackberry Curve camera, and by far it's way better. I just wanna hear other people's opinion of it to see if I still want to buy it. ------- |

I wasn't really interested in the 4G that much. It's pretty much the iphone without the phone. I think what Apple should have done is gave the touch thr camera before they gave it to the Nano. Why would you even need a camera on a ipod that doesn't even have internet? Once I get a job, I'm probably going to get myself a new ipod as well. I currently have the 2G 8gig and I'm running out of room. I'm running 4.0 on it and it's lagging like crazy. I thought 3.1.2 was bad, well this is worse. But that's probably because it's a 2G and it probably runs smoother on a 4G. Then again, I really haven't had the chance to check it out, but in time, I'll probably buy one since I have a need for more music storing capacity. |

Yeah it pretty much is the iPhone but without a data plan, which makes it even more expensive paying those bills per month. Though I disagree with your comment, "Why would you even need a camera on a ipod that doesn't even have internet? ", you can use it as a mobile camera, it takes good pictures, you can record videos, and even make calls if you're connected to wi-fi. The whole face-time thing is like an exclusive feature which was advertised a lot, but I don't see a lot of people using it thus far anyways. Plus I'd prefer to webcam with someone on my Mac then in a smaller iPod device. Hmm, although the 2G has less RAM, it depends if you have a lot of apps running in the background. The new 4G OS has background 'something' where you can check background apps and delete the ones you don't need running. Very helpful. Also it's slightly stronger, longer lasting, and with 32GBs of space, you can store almost whole anime seasons on there if you prefer. 300$ for a 32GB iPod Touch is not a bad deal in my opinion, if you want a major upgrade from the 2G, I'd say go for it (since I am... lol). If you're just going to get a regular 8GB one though, I'd say stick to the 2G one. I have a 2G one, and it runs perfectly still, although I prefer to take pictures on the go and whatnot, but without internet (like on an iPhone through data plans), you won't be able to uL them immediately say, if you were tweeting. That's just personal preference though, there's other things to consider if you want the new iPod. ------- |

With the 2G, even when running 4.0, you don't get the multitasking features. Only 3G's and up get the multi-tasking feature which is pretty much, forcing some people to buy something more expensive when they run out of memory since you can't buy 2G's there anymore (at least I don't think you can). So the background apps really isn't a problem. I'm definitely going to get something higher than an 8gig. With my music library still expanding, I'm going to need at least double what i have now, like a 16gig at least. Wait, the new 4G can't use internet? Only Internet through data plans? The hell? |

Personally, I don't find the iPod Touch series appealing at all. I find that the sole purpose for an MP3 player is to play music and videos at their best quality. I find those additional functions and applications on the iPod 4G mundane especially if you own a smartphone which can do about every single thing the iPod 4G does. Forking out a few dollars more on an MP3 player for the additional functions would be lavishing. Instead of the iPod 4G, I'd rather invest in the Samsung YP-M1[way better in terms of music quality playback (DNSe) | It has Bluetooh function too]. @Haseo If you're looking for a heavy-duty memory MP3 Player, go for the iPod Classic 160GB. Epic memory! |

No, the new iPod can use internet... I think I meant in terms of comparing it to the iPhone, you'll pay more monthly for a data plan just to use internet outside. It really depends on the consumer, honestly in the future depending on where I go, I'll get something similar. The only reason I'd need internet where ever I went would be to use Twitter and whatnot. Smaller things like a GPS or Google Maps isn't bad either, but it really depends on the cost. Personally people use some Apple products in the most idiotic way. The iPod began as a new way of listening and browsing music, but with so many things you can do now it definitely beats any other mp3 player. Apple's not going to individually increase quality on smaller details of their products when they don't need to. The iPod Touch anyways, is not just a regular mp3 player. If you want something for just music, invest your money elsewhere. ------- |

Even with all its cool feature and apps, I still prefer the iPod Classic. I need loads of space for my mp3s. I would consider getting the iPod Touch if there's a 80GB or 160GB option though but the chances for me getting it is still slim. If I want to watch videos and surf the net, I have my HTC HD2 (getting the Desire HD soon :D) to do that and iPod Classic for my collection of mp3s. And I can't surf the web with the Touch if I'm on the go and not anywhere near a wifi hotspot. I'm the kind of person who prefer space more and I say, the Touch is lacking in that department... |

After reviewing it... I know it's advanced and all, but all in all...it's just a music player. No matter what stuff you put on it, it's still a music player. Just like putting toppings on a pizza. You could style the toppings to your exact liking, but at the bottom, it's still a pizza. It's your decision to get it or not, but my opinion is just get something cheaper. |

I'm not really excited about his new product of Apple. It's advance, but yet, it's not dependable. It's original use is as a music player. But putting a camera on it makes good and inviting to people to buy that product. I have a 2nd gen ipod touch, but even I have it brand new 3 years ago, I don't feel this gadget to be worthy as my partner. I better buy a $300 1.6GHz netbook than this. I only said that because I'm a programmer and the 4th gen ipod touch can't help me in my work. It's better to have iphone than this ^_^. |

It came in the mail yesterday, a few more days earlier than expected. I also got it off Amazon which saved me like 20$ than Apple's damn website, who's shipping charges were ridiculous. Tested it out late last night and seeing how it is today. The internet is acting up ironically, so I don't think it's wi-fi issues, lol. Damn DSL..... -____-" But overall, other than the camera which I haven't tested out yet, everything about the new iPod is sweet! Definitely a better clearer display no matter how you look at it. I have my old 2G and new 4G next to each other, I can see a slight difference. The screen is somewhat less "greasy", but still smooth. Maybe it's cause it's new, I'm not sure. It is for sure smaller in width (for some reason). I wish the top power button was slightly out further, but that might just take some time to get used to. I do somewhat like it on the other side since that's where your index finger mostly is. Although it can mostly hover over the camera, hopefully it doesn't get dirty or easily damaged over time. Took like no time to re-install, not sure what people on Amazon said about it taking 2 hours to do... Overall, for now, I'm pretty satisfied. I'm going to find other new features. The new OS keeps being delayed, but I love the multitasking in the background which you can get rid of for CPU performance. ------- |
