I have an old DOS game called Descent, but i am unnable to run it, and don't understand the error meesage it gives me. It says "C:WINDOWS\System32\cmd.exe C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications." The game is originally meant to run on Windows 95, and since i upgraded to Windows XP, it won't install, or open a single file. Can anyone help? |

The reason why you can run a DOS compiled program with the WinXP OS, has to do with the compiler used. The best thing you probably need to do is run Virtual PC or VMWare. The install DOS 6.22 in a virtual system and install your Descent program. |

Ah... Descent. What a great game. In XP if you right click on the program you want to run and click properties, click on the "Compatability" tab. Check the box that says run in compatability mode for Windows 95. See if that works. |
