Equality is just a wishful thinking.. or not?

So, what do you think about the concept of egalitarianism (belief in equality)? I just want to know people's thoughts regarding the matter. Is there a difference of value between one's life and another person's life? Superiority undeniably exists, and everyone should accept the fact that someone are just born genius and talented, and others are born handicapped and limited. Do you think its caused by the widely believed theory of karma? The theory of karma practiced in human's life is kind of unfair when we view it in a certain way, how is it possible for an entirely oblivious person to be expected to carry such a heavy burden from his past, especially when he did not remember it even a little? Is it fair for a person to be suffering due to his unremembered past? But, if karma does not exist, I can find entirely no reason for this inequality, which rooted from even the very beginning of our birth. If it is just for the sake of people being different to increase the variety of humans, then why bother torturing innocent people for the purpose? Please give me your respective thoughts regarding the matter, thanks. |

We are all equal when it comes to rights. We all have the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of hapiness. No matter your mental capacity or your physical abilities, you can live free and be happy. At the same time no humans are equals if we treat equal as a mathmatical concept. I =/= you. I am not the same, will never be the same, as you. You may be more musically inclined but I may out preform you in mathmatics or science. You might be better with your hands crafting sculptures but i might be better with my hands fixing automobiles. There can be no equity of outcome just equity of possiblity. We all have the possiblity to be amazing at everything but the outcome is that we generally focus on and prosper in a small select group os skills. It is not wishful thinking to believe that everyone should have the possibility to do something but at some point you can not have influence over the outcome. Everyone should have the possiblity to do something but that does not mean they will. It is wrong to expect everyone to be equal because it is the inequalities that make us who we are. If the genius was not a genius because he is only as smart as everyone else, would he be the same person? Our self image is comprised of the things we do well and the things we do poorly. Everyone thinks "I'm a ______, good at _____ but not at _____." "But, if karma does not exist, I can find entirely no reason for this inequality, which rooted from even the very beginning of our birth." But this stems from a view of the inequity being inherently bad. Would the handicapped person be better off without the handicap? Objectivly, yes, but would he be the same? Would he still be the same person? I dont think so. And I am sure that there is something that the handicapped person does excel at. It might not be track & feild, but there will be something. Each person needs to live their lives and suffer some hardships, some inequities, because we define ourselves by how we overcome the hardship and inequity. |

Very much thank you for the reply, I truly appreciate it. However, I do have some doubts about what you say about each people having the same chance of free will and leading a happy life. For example, the case may occur that someone (a slave) whose free rights are restrained, had done all he can to change his fate and do good in his whole life while at the end all he receive is demise and ingratitude, and a child who is born a female may be overshadowed by the attention given to her male brother. And some people who does evil in this world, who had done many misdeeds in this world will just meet death as the good does, never getting the punishment he did deserve. Can it be called fair, and what about a baby, who has not committed even a single sin to die before even reaching the world? And those who fed from other people's suffering could live conveniently and prosper till his final age and die comfortably? They say humans are only equal in death itself, however I do not hold the same belief about that. Let's compare if suppose an influential and people at the bask of popularity does die with a case in which a nobody, a beggar whose work is to search for crumbs of bread everyday, ignored by everybody, who would get the most attention, and for whom will more tears be shed? Even if the beggar didn't do anything bad and the influential person has murdered a person, still which one would be more of a lost to this unfair world? God will decide, they say. But what about those who haven't even given the chance to pray at church, spending their whole life with medication and impending death by disease? And what about those who live in medieval eras, where persecution are even crueler than these days? Will their sins and virtues be justified? This is my own thoughts, and if it did offend someone, I'm really sorry. |

everything in this world got their purposes we just dont know about it, that's our(all human) limitation to know.. we just cant(and would never could) cross that line. maybe this could only be answered in the afterlife.. (if you believe there is an afterlife) if you believe God's exist, dont percepting Him like us human.. because He is the God, He must have a different vision about everything. i have faith He's not playing dice with us, i mean like your case.. the slave.. he may receive the demise and ingratitude for all the good things he do, demise by who.. us humans. demise by God? who knows?(but i darely say no!), this is a thought if you believe about afterlife where all good and bad deeds we'll be payed by God even as tiny as atom, i dont know how to satisfy people who doesnt believe the afterlife cuz i do believe it hehe. and a child who is born a female may be overshadowed by the attention given to her male brother, not all families.. but that's what God and friends needed for, a place to share our burden like this Forum^^ And some people who does evil in this world, who had done many misdeeds in this world will just meet death as the good does?, And those who fed from other people's suffering could live conveniently and prosper till his final age and die comfortably?, or equality in deaths? .. well like i said before we saw it in our human vision.. because we never know what God saw with his vision and what He'll do to him/her and what about a baby, who has not committed even a single sin to die before even reaching the world? in my religion some pious people told me that the angel's displays the baby's future to the baby and let the baby decides whether he will born or die.. because the soul was in maturity before the soul gets in to the infant body "God will decide, they say.."nope i say God gives us choice then we decide using our heart and brain, thats the right He gives us. even the wrong decision come from Him so then why does He doesnt give us a salvation for a bad things we do? But what about those who haven't even given the chance to pray at church, spending their whole life with medication and impending death by disease? aww God ain't that evil^^.. there's no need to go to sacred place to meet Him and pray right^^ He is a God anyway He could be Anywhere.. Everywhere, closer than your heart if you want to And what about those who live in medieval eras, where persecution are even crueler than these days? Will their sins and virtues be justified? Human ancestor Does nonEquality and is the duty for us a modern human to fix it, just start with your own self first this is the thoughts of someone who did believe about God and the after life.. believe in God is not that bad.. its nice to have someOne stronger to hold on to.. like you said we are a humans with all of our handycap, limitation and TALENT(although we just not yet know).. nobody's perfect^^, we are all fragile being.. OK if this Offend someone too, I'm really really Sorry :) |
